Physical Reasons for Pruning in Biblical Times

Spring-

#1: Cut back branches that are growing too rapidly so they don’t break off in the wind

#2: Remove some flower or grape clusters so that the remaining ones could produce more and better quality fruit

#3: Removal of unnecessary sprouts and suckers sprouting from the ground around trunk or bigger branches
