Mark 14:12-25

Theme: The Servant’s Last Days
Key verse: v.3
72 verses; 1595 words
Grade level: 3.6
1. The Change for Christ. vs.1-9
2. The Condemnation of Christ. vs.10-72
The Passover was instituted in Exodus 12.
It was because God was bringing judgment on the country and people of Egypt.
The Passover was a sacrifice not an offering.
The Passover was personal, one lamb for each home.
The Passover is a type of the Lamb of God that was to come.
Here are the PRACTICES of the Passover.

I. The Preparation of the Passover. Vs.12-21

It was to be in a place. Vs.12-14
12 And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?
13 And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.
14 And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
It has to be a prepared place. V.15
15 And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.
It has to have prepared people.
16 And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.
They had to listen to His words.
his disciples went forth
They had to believe His words.
as he had said
They had to practice His words.
they made ready the passover
It has to be about a Person. V.17
17 And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.
He came at the darkest time.
He came at the designated time.
It has to be about a plan. Vs.18
18 And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me.
19 And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?
20 And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish.
21 The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.
This was always the plan. “His heels” were lifted up against Him
Psalm 49:5
Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?
This was always the way.
Psalm 109:6-20
Here are the PRACTICES of the Passover.
I. The Preparation of the Passover. Vs.12-21

II. The Partaking of the Passover. Vs.22-25

What the food symbolizes. V.22
22 And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.
Similitude, not holy canabalism.
What the cup symbolizes. Vs.23-24
23 And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.
24 And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.
Similitude, not holy vampirism.
This was the last Passover. V.25
25 Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.
Conclusion:
Where is your Passover Lamb?
1 Corinthians 5:7
¶ Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
