8 I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope.
David was a man who always set the Lord before him.
Seting the Lord before you mean. to always have your mind set on God. Not on your problems, not on your situtation, not on anything else but only on God.
Because David had set the Lord before him from his youth, when others were being shaken he would not be shaken.
Goliath
The people of Israel, by putting goliath before them instead of the Lord, they were shaken.
The young man David by putting the Lord before him he was able to overcome the Giant.
When we set the lord before us, we are able to overcome giants, difficulties, and all kind of problems.
What have you out before you.
When we set the Lord before us, There is assurance that comes over our lives, confidence and boldness also.
Abraham always put the Lord before him
Genesis 17:1 (NKJV)
1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.
Walk before me: walk having set me before you, live having set me before you.
Abraham having set the Almighty God before him did not consider the deadness of his body being hundred years old and the deadness of Sarah’s womb.
He was able to endure and to pass through all those years of a wilderness period is because he put the Lord before him.
If you out the Lord before you there is nothing that you cannot overcome, there is nothing that you can not endure.
Moses put the Lord before him
Hebrews 11:24–27 (NKJV)
24 By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,
25 choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin,
26 esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.
27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.
Moses did not see the Invisible God by his physical eyes but rather by his spiritual eyes.
When he set the invisible God before him and he set his gaze upon him, Egypt and its glory became contemptable in his sight.
The Lord whom Moses had set before him gave him the stregth to forake it all.
He was able to endure those 40 years of silence in the wilderness because he had set the invisible God before him.
There is nothing that you will not be able to endure if you set the Lord before you.
We tend to fall when we put something else before us instead of Jesus
Matthew 14:22-33, ss
Peter was walking on water as long as he set the Lord before him.
It is when he set the storm, the wind, the waves before him that he began to sink.
You see when we put something else rather than Jesus before us we are bound to fall.
Ezekiel 14:1–5 (NKJV)
1 Now some of the elders of Israel came to me and sat before me.
2 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
3 “Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts, and put before them that which causes them to stumble into iniquity. Should I let Myself be inquired of at all by them?
4 “Therefore speak to them, and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Everyone of the house of Israel who sets up his idols in his heart, and puts before him what causes him to stumble into iniquity, and then comes to the prophet, I the Lord will answer him who comes, according to the multitude of his idols,
5 that I may seize the house of Israel by their heart, because they are all estranged from Me by their idols.” ’
David’s fall.
David saw what he was not suppose to see.
When he set bathsheba (a married woman before him), he began to do evil in the sight of God to get her.
Only put the Lord before you.
When you put the Lord before you:
It is he only that you will desire,
It is he only that you will fear
It is he only that you will concern yourself to please.
You will walk in the fear of God, if you put God before you.
3 For strangers have risen up against me, And oppressors have sought after my life; They have not set God before them. Selah
They do evil in the sight of God, they opress because they have not set God before them.
When you set God before you, you will not do evil.
Joseph always put God before him, and he was honored.
When potipher’s wife tried to seduce him by informing him that there was no one there to see them.
He did not fall for it because he knew the Lord was always before him watching every thing he was doing.
He honored God at the risk of his own life and God ultimately honored him. Put God before you.
When you are in Your room, Know that God is before you.
12 Then He said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the room of his idols? For they say, ‘The Lord does not see us, the Lord has forsaken the land.’ ”
Conclusion
Let us put the Lord before us.
