One of the things it tells us at the end of chapter two is that awe fell over the church, the Christians, because of the wonders being done through the apostles. Chapter three tells of one of those wonders…
We long for a world without these things and that world will one day come when The Father sends his Son Jesus back to do away with sin, evil, and Satan. Those who have placed their faith in Jesus, which can be seen in their repentance from their sins, will be in this world with Him. Peter says it will be a time of refreshing.
It makes me think of drink commercials when I was a kid. It seemed like every drink was marketed as refreshing and someone would throw their head back and take a big drink and go, “Ahhhhhhh” and the announcer would say, “The most refreshing drink on the market!” Didn’t matter what it was. Bottled water, refreshing. Gatorade, refreshing. Hawaiian Punch, refreshing. Coffee, refreshing! I think there were even beer commercials marketing refreshing! I don’t think that’s why people are drinking that!
Chapter three follows a very similar pattern to chapter two; there’s a miracle, everyone is looking, and Peter seizes the opportunity to preach the Gospel.

God heals by faith through Jesus.

PRAY and read verses 1-10

Humanity can’t heal.

Peter didn’t heal this man. We can’t heal ourselves…
A wall can’t dust itself. A counter can’t clean itself. A floor can’t vacuum itself. We can’t heal ourselves from our sin.
Peter very clearly gets the attention off of himself and the man and onto the Healer.
read 11-16
Take your opportunities to point people to Jesus and the healing available through faith in Him. That faith leads to action.

Sinners must repent.

We all are commanded to turn from our sins, which we will do after we put our faith in Jesus.
read 17-21
It’s the idea of something being erased from a dry erase board.
Look back at all the things Peter tells them they did in verses 13-15.

Put your faith in the promised Savior.

The Scriptures and the Old Covenant pointed to and promised Jesus’ coming and his Kingdom.
read 22-26
Jesus came to bless us by turning is from our sin and healing us and bringing us to a time of refreshing…
Not a promise of physical healing today, but something more…
