The Rejection and Cutting Off
the prophecy concerning the destruction and exile of the Israelite people
the longed for Messiah was rejected and murdered
the people sent into murdered, sold into slavery, and exiled from the land
then we see the people are going to accept the antichrist as their messiah
this is a pattern the Israelites did over and over
And the Israelites lived in the midst of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
And they took their daughters as wives for themselves, and they gave their daughters to their sons, and they served their gods.
The Israelites did evil in the eyes of Yahweh. They forgot Yahweh their God, and they served the Baals and the Asheroth.
And the anger of Yahweh was kindled against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Cushan-Rishathaim, the king of Aram Naharaim; and the Israelites served Cushan-Rishathaim eight years.
The Israelites cried out to Yahweh, and Yahweh raised up a deliverer for the Israelites who delivered them, Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother.

God is giving His credentials to who is giving this prophecy
The Holy Holy Holy God of the universe is the one who able to give Judgments and Deliverance
as a Judge he is justified to send every one to hell
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
He is the creator of the universe
Thus says the God, Yahweh, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and its offspring, who gives breath to the people upon it and spirit to those who walk in it.
God who is in full control
because all things in the heavens and on the earth were created by him, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or powers, all things were created through him and for him,
and he himself is before all things, and in him all things are held together,
the universe without the Hand of Jesus on it would spin out of control

This a lesson Nebuchadnezzar had to learn the hard way

And all the dwellers of the earth are regarded as nothing, and he does according to his desire in the host of heaven and among the dwellers of earth, and there is not one who can hold back his hand, or ask him, ‘What are you doing?’
This is almighty God who is declaring this prophecy

we can be assured it will happen because God has declared it
the events leading up to verse 2
“So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken about by the prophet Daniel standing in the holy place” (let the one who reads understand),
“then those in Judea must flee to the mountains!
I will surely gather all of you, O Jacob; I will surely gather together the remainder of Israel. I will set them like sheep of Bozrah. Like a herd in the midst of their pasture they will be in tumult from people.

in Jerusalem it is under seige by the armies of the antichrist
Look! A day is coming for Yahweh, when your plunder will be divided in your midst.
I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be captured, and they will loot the houses, and the women will be raped; half of the city will go into exile, but the remainder of the people will not be cut off from the city.
the antichrist will also go to Bozrah to kill all that are there
it is there that christ returns first
Who is this, coming from Edom, from Bozrah in bright red garments? Who is this honored in his garment, lying down in his great strength? “It is I, speaking in justice, mighty to save!”
Why are your garments red, and your garments like he who treads in the winepress?
“I have trodden the winepress alone, and there was no man from the peoples with me. And I trod them in my anger, and I trampled them in my wrath, and spattered their juice on my garments, and stained all my clothing,
for the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year of my blood-vengeance has come!
And I looked, but there was no helper, and I was appalled, but there was no one who sustains, so my arm came to assist me, and my wrath was what sustained me.
And I trampled peoples in my anger, and I made them drunk in my wrath, and I brought their juice down to the earth.”
it appears that Jesus comes to Bozrah and leads His people back to Israel
Come near, nations, to hear; and peoples, listen attentively! Let the earth hear, and that which fills it; the world and all its offspring.
For the anger of Yahweh is against all the nations, and his wrath is against all their host; he has put them under a ban, he has given them up for slaughter.
And their slain shall be cast out; as for their corpses, their stench shall go up. And the mountains shall melt with their blood,
and all the host of heaven shall rot. And the skies shall roll up like a scroll, and all their host shall wither like the withering of a leaf from a vine, or like the withering from a fig tree.
When my sword is drenched in the heavens, look! It will descend upon Edom, and upon the people of my ban, for judgment.
Yahweh has a sword; it is full of blood. It is covered with fat, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams, for Yahweh has a sacrifice in Bozrah and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
Then Yahweh will go forth and fight against those nations, like when he fights on a day of battle.

meanwhile in Jerusalem the battle is raging
‘Look, I am going to make Jerusalem a cup of reeling for all the surrounding nations; it will also be against Judah in the siege against Jerusalem.
those who want to destroy Jerusalem and Judah
these people will be drunk supernaturally
And then on that day I will make Jerusalem a stone weight for all the peoples. All those lifting it up will grievously hurt themselves, and all the nations of the earth will assemble against it.

On that day,’ declares Yahweh, ‘I will strike every horse with confusion, and the one riding it with madness; but over the house of Judah I will keep my eyes open, and I will strike every horse of the peoples with blindness.

“ ‘On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a pan of fire among sticks of wood, and like a torch of fire among stalks of grain, and they will devour to the right and to the left all the surrounding peoples, and Jerusalem will be inhabited again in its place, in Jerusalem.
they will start to fight and win
And Yahweh will save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem may not be exalted over Judah.
the house of David will not be looked down on by Jerusalem
On that day Yahweh will put a shield around the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the one who stumbles among them on that day will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of Yahweh, before them.
And then on that day I will seek to destroy all the nations coming against Jerusalem.
Jesus will arrive in Jerusalem
Then Yahweh will go forth and fight against those nations, like when he fights on a day of battle.
On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in half, from east to west, by a very great valley; and half of the mountain will withdraw toward the north, and the other half toward the south.
