“Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’?”

Jesus is glorified

God also looks at the heart of the matter

iii. Would you agree that we live in a broken world?
We:

Everything is broken

ii. Broken switches, broken gates,
iii. Broken dishes, broken parts,
iv. Streets are filled with broken hearts
v. Broken words never meant to be spoken,

vii. Seem like every time you stop and turn around
viii. Something else just hit the ground
b. Nothing on this planet works perfectly, nothing.
i. The weather's broken.
ii. The economy is broken
iii. Political systems are broken.
iv. I don't know if you've noticed this, your body's broken.
v. Relationships are broken.
vi. Dreams are broken
vii. Hearts are broken
viii. Minds are broken
c. Let me show you what God says about this
God:

The Healing Power of the Cross

a. Redemptive Suffering
1 Peter 2:24 NLT
24 He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.
ii. Isaiah speaks of this in the OT
Isaiah 53:5 NIV
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
iv. Jesus suffered and pain, shame, and curse of the cross
v. Jesus suffered not because he deserved it
vi. Jesus suffered so you wouldn’t have too.
vii. Redemptive suffering

By his wounds you are healed.

i. The whole planet groans
ii. Everything is broken
iii. Because of his wounds your wounds can be healed
You:

Your sins are forgiven

a. The man came to have his body healed
i. The physical condition was the symptom
ii. The real problem was in the heart
iii. We cry to God to help with our finances, our relationships, our sickness
iv. So often the sickness is a heart problem (bitterness, envy)
v. A broken relationship with your Lord and Savior
Matthew 6:33 NIV
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
vii. Then he adds
Matthew 6:34 NLT
34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
We:
5. Like the paralyzed man

We just want the pain to go away

i. God tells us to pray for the sick (God’s will)
ii. God is a miracle working God
iii. God’s greatest healing work happens at the foot to the cross.
iv. Never forget God never waste a hurt.
v. Today I will trust God for all my needs
