I love the Rangers to this day.
Trans: Today let’s examine a time when Jesus provided an answer that turned out way better than how they expected it to be and lets see how that bears on us today?
Pray
Acts 1:6–11 ESV
6 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” 9 And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. 10 And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, 11 and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”

Request Miracles from God

Acts 1:6 “6 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?””
Exp:
What were the disciples asking for?
A political restoration for Geopolitical Isreal
Why did they ask this?
They knew who Jesus was! (Miracles, Healing, Resurrection)
Do you know who your God is?
They asked God for something that they thought was consistent with God’s goals for the world.
They came together!
Ill
Toyneisha always asking for candy, DJ on vacation, and how I was always nervous about that.
App:
Are you afraid to ask God for huge miraculous things?
We must remember who God is and then ask the Lord for it.
When the saints seek the Lord, God reaches down and answer them!

Expect God’s Redirection

Acts 1:7 ESV
7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.
Exp:
You might be tempted to say Forget it when God tells you its not for you to know.
God is a good who reveals himself to the world. The saints will receive something from God when they ask.
They will trust that what God reveals is the direction/tack that they should follow.
Ill
Have you ever just know you are right, and you’re not.
I tend to be that way with directions
Ocean City Boardwalk Map
LA Uber Lot
DJ when tell him not to parent AJ.
App
We have to learn to take God’s redirection well.
He just has a higher perspective than us and know what we don’t know.
When God says no we have to learn how to uncross our arms, stop grrring, and listen to what he says next

Remain Receptive to God’s Work

Acts 1:8–9 ESV
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” 9 And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
Exp
Jesus answer a question that they didn’t know they were asking.
The Power of God would be God himself: the Holy Spirit
God would individually strengthen them to be God’s witness (martureo) even to the world’s edge.
There was no sphere were God’s power could not strethen them.
Note: the political Revelation is not in sight.
The stood there focused on where they last beheld Jesus
Ill
App:
Posture yourself for the Power of God.
Receptive to his directions for life
Time in prayer, scripture, church fellowship
Communion and Baptism
The renewal of our minds.
