“Redigging The wells of Revival” (John 12)
We are in the middle of series entitled “Redigging the wells of revival”
“Revival is a season of extraordinary divine visitation causing deep repentance, supernatural renewal, and extensive reformation in the Church, along with the radical conversion of sinners in the world, often producing moral, social, and even economic change, local or national.
We need the supernatural and the power of God. We need Jesus.
A well represents an opportunity! A source of life.
In every revival we experience a fresh revelation of Jesus!
Revival begins in our hearts.
Our prayer is that you will have a fresh revelation of Jesus during this series.
The gospel of john was the last one written, John was very clear why he wrote another gospel.
Joh 20:30 Now there are many other wonder-works which Jesus performed in the disciples' presence which are not recorded in this book.
Joh 20:31 But these have been recorded, in order that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life, as bearers of His name.
Today we are on chapter 12 of John
Worship
Joh 12:1 Six days before the Passover, Jesus went to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom He had raised from the dead. [Mat_26:6-13; Mar_14:3-9]
A crowed had followed Jesus and his disciples and John wanted to point out the time and place. This was a very important time, in the Jewish calendar people from everywhere were coming to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover, Israel’s powerful deliverance from Egypt.
Joh 12:2 So they gave a supper for Him there. Martha was serving, and Lazarus was one of those reclining at the table with Him.
Joh 12:3 Then Mary took a pound of very expensive perfume of pure nard, and she poured it on Jesus' feet and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
Mary was worshiping Jesus
Joh 12:4 But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, the one who was going to betray Him, said,
Joh 12:5 "Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and [the money] given to the poor?"
300 hundred days of work almost whole year of wages an extravagant gift.
Judas may have started that conversation, and assessment, but the others agreed with him.
Joh 12:6 Now he said this, not because he cared about the poor [for he had never cared about them], but because he was a thief; and since he had the money box [serving as treasurer for the twelve disciples], he used to pilfer what was put into it.
Joh 12:7 So Jesus said, "Let her alone, so that she may keep [the rest of] it for the day of My burial.
I like how Mark put it
Mar 14:8 She has done what she could; she has anointed My body beforehand for the burial.
Mar 14:9 Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her."
Maybe It was all she had of value, the main thing is Jesus received her worship and commended her for it.
Joh 12:8 You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have Me."
I would like to talk about worship this morning

Worship a key to revival

Let’s Pray

1 God created us for worship

Worship happens
When we practice the first and greatest commandment. Is an act of worship
Mat 22:37 And Jesus replied to him, " 'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.' [Deu_6:5]
True worshipers according to Jesus, worship the Father in spirit and truth (John 4:23).
Joh 4:23 But a time is coming and is already here when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit [from the heart, the inner self] and in truth; for the Father seeks such people to be His worshipers.
Joh 4:24 God is spirit [the Source of life, yet invisible to mankind], and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."
Not by words only or by works, but by spirit and truth. True worship happens when above all things we seek God’s face to adore Him for who He is. Worship takes place when our soul, our heart, our being, and our spirit seek to glorify Him.
God in his wisdom wired us all for worship, we live to worship.
We will worship God, or other people other things, but we are always worshiping.
When God created us, it was part of His plan, that we would be with Him forever not that one day we would move away from Him, that we would live independent lives, and exclude Him from our relationships.
He created us for intimacy, He would be our God and our Heavenly Father and we His children, lacking absolutely nothing.

2 We are all called to worship.

Psa 95:1 Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
Psa 95:2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.
Psa 95:3 For the LORD is the great God, And the great King above all gods.
Psa 95:6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.
Worship includes our time, our work and service, finances, we have to be faithful in all these areas to worship in Spirit and truth.
Worship is about what He has done for us.
Wouldn't you love see God pleased with the way you worshiped Him?
Worship is not about us, or how touching it is for us, worship is about touching God.
Good Worship in God’s eyes is when we come to him with repented hearts contrite hearts And worship Him.
Psa 51:16 For You do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it; You are not pleased with burnt offering. [1Sa_15:22]
Psa 51:17 My [only] sacrifice [acceptable] to God is a broken spirit; A broken and contrite heart [broken with sorrow for sin, thoroughly penitent], such, O God, You will not despise.
Is not the job of a worship leader or a choir’s, to make you worship God, we may blame them, for being flat or not so good but God is listening to your heart!
Aaron is one of the best worship leaders I know, but even Him can not take you into the throne room of God if you heart is not ready.
Prayer and worship is what open the doors for the doors for revival to come to Hawaii,
The haystack revival with the five young men praying for the gospel to be taken to the ends of the world, international missions,
1809 Samuel Mills meets Henry Opukahai’a and Thomas Hopu, after they gave their hearts to the Lord they began to pray for Hawaii and their salvation.
1818 Samuel Mills and Henry Opukahai’a died but their vision and prayers continued. The ship Thaddeus left Boston on 1819 with 7 families of missionaries coming to Hawaii.
On the 30 of march of 1820 they stopped in Kawaihae, to find out that their prayers and worship had all been answered, every day for 164 days seasick or not, they came together for prayer and worship
When they left Boston, they didn’t know about Kamehameha’s the great death. The king probably would not welcome them. Liholiho was now Kamehameha the second.
Their religion and laws, the Kapu system were quite restrictive, they had many gods, and they were greatly afraid of them. A major prayer
Liholiho, Queen Kaahumanu and his sister broke the Kapu, and oriented by Hewa Hewa the High priest they threw the old religion out and burn all their wooden images.
Liholiho’s cousin, Keaoua Kekuaokalani (Liholiho’s cousin) led the forces supporting the ancient Hawaiian religion; he challenges him, and war against him, the God of grace won.
All these things happen before the missionaries arrived in Hawaii, all accomplished by worship and prayers.
After their arrival they were welcomed, you can also say that Mokuaikaua was a gift of prayer and worship. Happy 202 Mokuaikaua!
One thing the missionaries kept as they were traveling to Hawaii and continued was the Concerts of Prayer.
The concert focused on prayer for foreign missions on any given first Monday the month they would be held around the clock.
Missionaries from around the world England, Scotland, and Wales, then across the Atlantic to New England, to Hawaii onward to China, India, Burma, and Ceylon, to
Persia and even to Beirut and Jerusalem, participated.
The roots of the Concert of Prayer date back to the decade of great awakening in America and Great Britain in the 1730s and 1740s
In 1816 Rev Samuel Mills introduced the Concert as a mission focused service.
We Know that the outcome of worship and Prayer, 97% of the Hawaiian population came to Christ.

3 Worship take us into the presence of God

Worship is the door that will always takes us into His presence.
Worship is the place to be
When we begin to worship God, we enter into his holy presence.
Psalm 22:3
But thou art holy, O thou that inhabits the praises of Israel.
I love worshiping God, is often the time when God speaks to me share visions, strengths me.
Just like Mary is important to sit at the feet of Jesus and listen to Him.
Solomon’s worship
1Ki 3:4 The king went to Gibeon [near Jerusalem, where the tabernacle and the bronze altar stood] to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place. Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.
1Ki 3:5 In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream at night; and God said, "Ask [Me] what I shall give you."
1Ki 3:6 Then Solomon said, "You have shown Your servant David my father great lovingkindness, because he walked before You in faithfulness and righteousness and with uprightness of heart toward You; and You have kept for him this great lovingkindness, in that You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is today.
1Ki 3:7 So now, O LORD my God, You have made Your servant king in place of David my father; and as for me, I am but a little boy [in wisdom and experience]; I do not know how to go out or come in [that is, how to conduct business as a king].
1Ki 3:8 Your servant is among Your people whom You have chosen, a great people who are too many to be numbered or counted.
1Ki 3:9 So give Your servant an understanding mind and a hearing heart [with which] to judge Your people, so that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge and rule this great people of Yours?" [Jas_1:5]
1Ki 3:10 Now it pleased the Lord that Solomon had asked this thing.
1Ki 3:11 God said to him, "Because you have asked this and have not asked for yourself a long life nor for wealth, nor for the lives of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to recognize justice,
1Ki 3:12 behold, I have done as you asked. I have given you a wise and discerning heart (mind), so that no one before you was your equal, nor shall anyone equal to you arise after you.
1Ki 3:13 I have also given you what you have not asked, both wealth and honor, so that there will not be anyone equal to you among the kings, for all your days.
1Ki 3:14 If you walk in My ways, keeping My statutes and My commandments, as your father David did, then I will lengthen your days."
1Ki 3:15 Then Solomon awoke, and he realized that it was a dream. He came [back] to Jerusalem and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; he offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and he prepared a feast for all his servants. [2Sa_6:17]
Solomon pleased the Lord with way he worshiped, and the Lord came to see him in a dream.
He worship Him,honor with extravagant love and extreme submission.
Somehow Salomon got Gods attention and He came to see him.
When the Lord asked, ask whatever you want, Salomon answer was give me a wise heart. Verse 10
God gave him what he asked and didn't ask.
A genuine heart of worship will take us right into the presence of God.
Jesus commended the poor widows gift of two coins, Mary’s expensive perfume, and God visited Solomon after sacrificing a thousand bulls, the common factor was ,“they did what they could’. Is not about money or sacrifice, Our Heavenly Father is after our hearts. People around you may not understand your love and commitment to your Heavenly Father.
Worship is key for revival, Our Heavenly Father is calling you to return to a heart of worship, we need to understand that
We are created for worship
We called to worship
Worship takes us right into His presence
There is no one in this entire Universe who deserves your worship.
Worship begins when we make Jesus the Lord of our lives
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Joh 3:16
To receive Him we need to accept Him as God’s son, repent from our sins and a life of selfishness, and ask Him to be your Lord and savior, not that you deserve it, but is a gift from God.
If this is your desire today, please repeat this prayer after me?
Heavenly Father I’m sinner,
I’m sorry for my sins,
I’m willing to turn away from my sins.
I receive Christ as my savior,
I confess him as Lord
from this moment on I want to follow and serve him,
in the fellowship of his church,
In Jesus name. Amen!
1Co 11:23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;
1Co 11:24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me."
1Co 11:25 In the same manner Healso took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."
1Co 11:26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.
1Co 11:27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
Heb 9:14 dead works, acts, sins
E mau aku ka loko maika’i o ka Haku, Iesu Kristo; me ke aloha a ke Akua, a me ka launa pu ‘ana mai o ka Uhane Hemolele ia ‘olua, a me makou apau. Amene.
