This Week’s Theme: Praise God for His Blessings
Memory Verse: Matthew 6:33 “33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
This Week’s Word is Blessings: Spiritual and material benefits given by God to be enjoyed. Blessing the name of God is also the appropriate response of believers to all that God has done for them.
Essence of the Text in a Sentence: Hannah went to God in prayer due to her barrenness and God provided a son
Sermon Objective: I want those in attendance to look to God in their situation and trust God to act according to His Will.
Sermon Text: 1 Samuel 1:19-20
1 Samuel 1:19–20 NKJV
19 Then they rose early in the morning and worshiped before the Lord, and returned and came to their house at Ramah. And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, and the Lord remembered her. 20 So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, “Because I have asked for him from the Lord.”

Saints trust God through prayer when facing challenges and wait for God to provide

I. Saints Turn to God when Provoked

1 Samuel 1:6–8 NKJV
6 And her rival also provoked her severely, to make her miserable, because the Lord had closed her womb. 7 So it was, year by year, when she went up to the house of the Lord, that she provoked her; therefore she wept and did not eat. 8 Then Elkanah her husband said to her, “Hannah, why do you weep? Why do you not eat? And why is your heart grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons?”
1 Samuel 1:10 NKJV
10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish.
1 Samuel 1:16 NKJV
16 Do not consider your maidservant a wicked woman, for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief I have spoken until now.”
Hannah who was hassled daily She endured a heckler day other day. The riding and taunting caused her to be sore, grieved, and frustrated.
What do you do when people attack you?

Remember the Word of God

Leviticus 19:17–18 NKJV
17 ‘You shall not hate your brother in your heart. You shall surely rebuke your neighbor, and not bear sin because of him. 18 You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.
‘You shall not hate your brother in your heart. You shall surely rebuke your neighbor, and not bear sin because of him. 18 ‘You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I [am] the LORD.
Galatians 5:15 NKJV
15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!
Galatians 5:26 NKJV
26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
Ephesians 4:31–32 NKJV
31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
Romans 12:14 NKJV
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
Romans 12:17 NKJV
17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men.

Rely on the Spirit of God

Romans 12:19 NKJV
19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.
Remember Ephesians 6:12 “we don’t wrestle against flesh & blood”

Are you responding according to the Bible? If so, what verses?
Will you confess your failure and repent of your sin of not responding biblically to the LORD today?
Actions speak louder than words, name the Christians you will tell your sins to and those who you will look to for accountability

II. Saints follow through when We Promised

1 Samuel 1:24–28 NKJV
24 Now when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bulls, one ephah of flour, and a skin of wine, and brought him to the house of the Lord in Shiloh. And the child was young. 25 Then they slaughtered a bull, and brought the child to Eli. 26 And she said, “O my lord! As your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood by you here, praying to the Lord. 27 For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition which I asked of Him. 28 Therefore I also have lent him to the Lord; as long as he lives he shall be lent to the Lord.” So they worshiped the Lord there.
Numbers 30:2 NKJV
2 If a man makes a vow to the Lord, or swears an oath to bind himself by some agreement, he shall not break his word; he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.
Psalm 50:14 NKJV
14 Offer to God thanksgiving, And pay your vows to the Most High.

Matthew 5:33 NKJV
33 “Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.’
What promises have you made to the LORD?
Have you made promises to God that you have not paid?
Will you confess your failure and repent of your sin of not fulfilling your promise to the LORD today?
Actions speak louder than words, name the Christians you will tell your sins to and those who you will look to for accountability

III. Saints Praise God for His Provision

1 Samuel 2:1–10 NKJV
1 And Hannah prayed and said: “My heart rejoices in the Lord; My horn is exalted in the Lord. I smile at my enemies, Because I rejoice in Your salvation. 2 “No one is holy like the Lord, For there is none besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God. 3 “Talk no more so very proudly; Let no arrogance come from your mouth, For the Lord is the God of knowledge; And by Him actions are weighed. 4 “The bows of the mighty men are broken, And those who stumbled are girded with strength. 5 Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread, And the hungry have ceased to hunger. Even the barren has borne seven, And she who has many children has become feeble. 6 “The Lord kills and makes alive; He brings down to the grave and brings up. 7 The Lord makes poor and makes rich; He brings low and lifts up. 8 He raises the poor from the dust And lifts the beggar from the ash heap, To set them among princes And make them inherit the throne of glory. “For the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s, And He has set the world upon them. 9 He will guard the feet of His saints, But the wicked shall be silent in darkness. “For by strength no man shall prevail. 10 The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken in pieces; From heaven He will thunder against them. The Lord will judge the ends of the earth. “He will give strength to His king, And exalt the horn of His anointed.”
