The verse that called me to action: Psalm 34:18-19
Psalm 34:18–19 (KJV)
The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.
Then look at how Psalm 34 closes
Psalm 34:22 (KJV (WS))
The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.
Consider this thought from Haley’s Bible Handbook
“In every trouble David went straight to God in prayer.
On every occasion he went instantly to God in Thanks and Praise.
What a glorious thing to THUS LIVE IN GOD.
And how that must please God.”
In this Psalm I had to understand, the three qualities I built up with my pride: Wisdom, Power, Riches - God condemned.
Through this tragedy, of my own making, I was taught to: Put a higher priority on knowing Him personally and living a life that reflects his justice, righteousness, mercy and love.
Consider Jeremiah 9:23-24
Jeremiah 9:23–24 (KJV)
Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.
Question: What happened Mike?
I thought you were saved, trusting God, submitting to His authority, out of respect and obedience - knowing what Christ did on the cross for you!
Failure to completely submit to Him!
Do these verses sound familiar?
...by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
....by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation;
even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
...For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
I abused the Grace of God and allowed my Old Man to overtake the New Man
