Idea: We should praise God the Father for our destiny in Christ Jesus!

I. We praise God our Father because He gave us new birth into a living hope.

A. God the Father gave us a living hope because of His great and abundant mercy.

1. God the Father loves to demonstrate His mercy and compassion.

2. God the Father knows that we need His mercy because of our sin.

B. God the Father gave us a living hope by resurrecting Jesus Christ from the dead.

1. Christ Jesus had to die in order to be raised from the dead.

2. Christ Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin so that we could receive the forgiveness of our sins through his name.

3. God the Father had to send his Son to the cross to die for our sins.

II. We praise God the Father because this living hope in Christ includes promises for an eternal inheritance and salvation.

A. Our living hope in Christ includes a secure eternal inheritance of great quality.

1. The inheritance is described as imperishable, undefiled , and unfading.

2. God the Father secures our inheritance by keeping it preserved in heaven.

B. Our living hope in Christ includes a protected future eternal salvation.

1. God the Father assures our eternal salvation by His power for protection through our faith in Christ.

2. Our future salvation will be revealed at the coming of our Lord Jesus.
