Zechariah 14:4 KJV 1900
And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, Which is before Jerusalem on the east, And the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, And there shall be a very great valley; And half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, And half of it toward the south.
With Christ’s personal, bodily return to earth, a number of important prophecies will be fulfilled. Even before the Lord Jesus was born in Bethlehem, Zechariah prophesied His triumphant return to the Mount of Olives. (read text)
Acts 1:10–12 KJV 1900
And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day’s journey.
records that Jesus ascended to Heaven from that location. Angels repeated the prophecy that He will come to earth again in the same way He left. (v.11). This earth is the Lord’s because He is the creator and redeemer, but He had not yet possessed it as king. When Christ plants His feet on the Mount of Olives, He will claim the earth as the possession of God.
Psalm 2:8 KJV 1900
Ask of me, And I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Isaiah 35:1–2 KJV 1900
The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; And the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice Even with joy and singing: The glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, The excellency of Carmel and Sharon, They shall see the glory of the Lord, And the excellency of our God.
As king and creator, Christ will transform the land of Israel and make the whole earth beautiful and fruitful, as it was before Adam’s fall.
All the promises given will culminate during the reign of Christ on earth. The people of Israel will inherit their promised possessions and enjoy the covenants given to them in the Old Testament
Jeremiah 12:15 KJV 1900
And it shall come to pass, after that I have plucked them out I will return, and have compassion on them, and will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land.
The city of Jerusalem will play an important part in the Kingdom and the nation Israel will have a prominent place in Christ’s government. Jerusalem will finally enjoy the meaning of its name, “the city of peace.”

The King of the Kingdom

The central figure of the millennial Kingdom will be Jesus Christ. we can get some ideas of what His kingdom will be like by looking at the names that describe this wonderful king. Jesus Christ is God. He is God the Son, and as the Son of God He will reign on the earth. In the context of the millennial kingdom, He is presented as the Lord of hosts
Isaiah 24:23 KJV 1900
Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, When the Lord of hosts shall reign In mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, And before his ancients gloriously.
The Lord will be out leader, the perfect model of humanity. He will have absolute authority. He will be king, judge, and the lawgiver. He will exercise personal judgement over all the earth, and His judgement will be absolutely true and right. Because of this there will be peace on earth.

The People of the Kingdom

At His second coming, Christ will appear in power and great glory to judge. All who live through the Tribulation will be judged either at the final battle of Armageddon or at the Judgement of nations. The unsaved survivors of the Tribulation will be condemned to Hell. The only people on earth will be
The saved people (Gentile & Jews)
resurrected martyrs of the Tribulation
resurrected Old Testament saints
raptured Christians who will return with Christ.
Those who accept Christ and survive the Tribulation will enter into the millennial kingdom in their mortal bodies. These people will marry and have families. While these will be righteous, the children born to them will have the sin nature because they are fruit of the mortal body. Each person born will need to accept Christ as their Saviour just as all that came before.

The End of the Millennium

Revelation 20:1-6 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
Makes it cleat that the duration of the Kingdom will be 1,000 years. After those 1000 years are complete, Satan will be released to work on earth for a short time. Some will choose to follow him, but God will crush their rebellion and Satan will be cast into the Lake of Fire. Unbelievers of all time will be judged at the Great White Throne judgement and condemned to the Lake of Fire.
Revelation 20:15 KJV 1900
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Jesus will deliver up His kingdom to the Father, and the Kingdom of Christ will merge into the eternal kingdom.
