Fourth, the Holy Spirit plays a key role in Paul’s theological argument in Rom 1–11 and in his exhortations in Rom 12–15. For Paul, God’s Spirit dwelling in believers serves as proof of both the fulfillment of God’s promises in the Scriptures (e.g., Ezek 11:19–20; 36:25–27; Joel 2:28–32; Jer 31:31–33) and God’s adoption of His children (Rom 5:5; 8:12–17). The Spirit empowers ethical Christian living by liberating the believer from the power of sin (Rom 8:2), helping believers to live in obedience to God (Rom 8:4–16; 14:17; 15:13), and interceding on behalf of believers in their weakness

ROMANS
12 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. 1
1 The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Ro 12:1–2.

Surrender: our walk with Christ is a process of sanctification we do not just arrive. We must have consistent open communication with the Lord to be able to always grow. laying down (surrendering equals growth)

Let’s say you have a gondola with a hot air balloon on it, and it’s tethered to the ground with ropes. If you want to go up, don’t put more hot air in the balloon…basically untie the tethers, and it will naturally go up...
so, the right thing to do is not worry about going up, just let go of whats holding you down, and, if you will go up, naturally, exactly at the pace that it should. Everything will unfold perfectly, but you have to be willing to let go of what holding you down.
MICHAEL SINGER
God has called us to a life of obedience and that requires surrender. I remember telling the Lord I don’t have to do all that you are calling me into at this point in my life. I do not need to hustle. My husband has a job that takes care of our needs. Yet in that prayer I imagined sitting on my couch and just doing nothing. Oh the thought felt good, but then the thought of doing nothing and knowing I said no to the Lord it was so sad.
I had a moment of giving my self the choice to not do what the Lord was asking of me. This I call doing what pleased and made my life less complicated in my own human perspective. Like the hot air balloon analogy what is keeping you from moving closer to the Lord and his purpose. What is he asking of you to surrender. Don’t limit this question to just your spiritual walk with him. How about your health(mental, or physical), your home environment, your relationships, your social life, your joy levels, your career, your education, your finances, your talents. The Lord wants al of us in this process of sanctification and working out our salvation while we are here on earth. OH how I wait on the day when I will fully know, but in the now there is so much God wants to show us about our my self and others. The question is are we willing to listen? are we willing to surrender.
PSALM 139

23  Search me, O God, and know my heart!

Try me and know my thoughts!

24  And see if there be any grievous way in me,

and lead me in the way everlasting!

A couple of weeks ago I felt in my heart I needed to fast. I can’t go long periods of time with out eating so I began to ask the Lord what I should fast. I soon as I asked the Lord as I was putting my seasiong away i felt the lord tell me coffee until 12 pm for two days. The first day I did that by 11:30 am I could not focus that I needed to into my room and pray. The second day we had planned to go to lego land so I thought Lord you must think i am able. well things got crazy at lego land and it ws 2pm and i had no coffee. I remember looking for coffee because i knew the crash as coming I was no longer fasting. My body was able to handel it longer the second day. As I began to look for coffee at leogo land, i remember cheking my heart and from it telling the Lord God I am doing this our of obedience and surrender. its not just about my coffee. I am willing to follow you and lay down what you need me too no questions asked. I follow you for who you are. You are worthy of my surrender for in reality I am on this earth because of your great mercy.
My encouragement as I end would be begin to ask and see What is God asking of you to surrender. Don’t limit this question to just your spiritual walk with him. How about your health(mental, or physical), your home environment, your relationships, your social life, your joy levels, your career, your education, your finances, your talents. The Lord wants all of us in this process of sanctification and working out our salvation while we are here on earth. OH how I wait on the day when I will fully know, but in the now there is so much God wants to show us about our self and others. The question is are we willing to listen? are we willing to surrender.
