Now I know we know this in our mind that we serve a limitless God, but can we even imagine the amount of limitless power God has?
We talk about but do we really believe it?
Do we act as though He is limitless or do we focus on the enormity of our problems?
For months we have said that God is greater than the pandemic, He is able to provide for us when things fall apart, He can heal families and relationships, God can do it.
And yet, I think in the back of our minds, it’s what we’re suppose to believe as Christians but it seems more like a, I hope so, instead of I know He will.
Well my prayer is that today we can know our God is limitless.
Look at verses 14-17 again.
Paul is teaching us something important right here.
A Limited Human Cannot House a Limitless Jesus!
Paul is praying that God, the Father, with all of His glorious, unlimited power will empower us with inner strength that comes from the Holy Spirit.
Only when we have the Holy Spirit will we be able to house the limitless Jesus in our hearts.
What?
You see our finite, limited, weak human bodies could not house the limitless, King of kings Jesus, unless we have the power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in us.
That’s why Jesus told His disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they were endued with power from the Holy Spirit.
Only after that would they be able to effectively witness in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the utter most parts of the world.
Think about this, in the Old Testament, the prophets were powerful.
Elijah called down fire, Elisha did great miracles, Samuel, Nathan, all did mighty things.
But everyone knew who they were.
The difference today is that the Holy Spirit was poured out on all flesh to begin the church on the day of Pentecost and He is needed for the Church to be powerful with God’s limitless power.
The only thing that is different in the New Testament outpouring is the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
That’s so we can pray effectively and also to get the heart of God.
But the main reason is to be able to “house” Jesus in all His power.
We Then Know Just How Great Jesus’ Love Is!
We experience the love of Christ even though it is too great to understand fully.
You see we need the Holy Spirit because our finite minds cannot even come close to understanding God’s love.
Have you ever thought about this, it’s humanly impossible to do 1 Corinthians chapter 13 on our own strength!
Let’s at this chapter in the Living Bible
When we don’t have the power of the Holy Spirit making us able to be the Temple of God, we cannot do these things in this chapter because they are humanly impossible.
We do the exact opposite.
We get impatient, we envy or we are boastful or proud even if we never say anything, we think we’re the best.
We hold grudges and we do notice when someone does something wrong.
Why?
Because this is the love of God not the love of man and it can only work by the power of the Godhead, Father, Son and Spirit.
God’s Limitless Power Blows Our Minds!
He is able to do immeasurably more that anything we can ask or imagine.
Can you imagine that?
I’ll be honest that on my own I can’t.
When I first received Jesus I couldn’t imagine being used by Him in ministry.
I couldn’t see myself being able to do it.
But when I recieved the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, it was like night and day.
I could imagine God doing things and what I imagined wasn’t even close to what He could do.
If you are putting limits on God it could be that we don’t have the Holy Spirit or we are looking too much at what our own limited abilities are.
Or we could limit the limitless God because of something that has happened in our past.
It’s time to imagine life with a limitless God! Imagine the possibilities!!
