What are the ways to find out if someone is going to deceive you?
Their attitude towards money.
Judas was a thief and wanted the money. “Instead of using the money on ____, you should give that to the _____.
Their attitude towards misery.
Judas was a terrible person and was selfish. He learned that from his father. When Jesus preached “Ye are of your father the Devil” it wasn’t just the chief priests, scribes, Pharisees, and Sadducees that were there: Judas was too.
Their attitude towards ministry.
Judas was a traitor and wanted money instead of ministry. He sold out the Lord for the price of a used car.
Here we are alerted to the DISTINCTIONS of a deceiver.

And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
Judas showed up with a conniving .
“Judas” -
Judas showed up with a crowd.
“and with him a great multitude with swords and staves,”
Why would they show up with an armed great multitude?
The sons of thunder were present.
Peter was present.
Most people show up with a crowd when they are afraid.
Judas showed up with a connection.
“from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.”

Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
How would the disciples have known?
Answer: One of the twelve was connected with them!

And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.
The way they would know Whom to arrest.
“And he that betrayed him had given them a token,”
They already knew why to arrest Him.
They already planned on acting for the crowd.
“lead him away safely.”
They were to act as if Jesus would be dealt with kindly.
They were to act as if they were the good people.
John 13:26–27 AV
26 Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. 27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.
John 14:30 AV
Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

Judas had wicked words.
“Master, master;”
Judas called Jesus his master of religion.
Judas called Jesus the problem of religion.
Judas had wicked ways.
“and kissed him.”
He marked Jesus.
He mocked Jesus.
Conclusion:
Are you a deceiver?
Do you lie to those closest to you for financial gain?
Do you plot against those you claim to love?
Do you make everything about you?
