What comes to your mind when you hear the phrase “Gospel Evidence”?
Study
Point 1: The Gospel Call (10:34–43)
READ Acts 10:33–43
1) Discuss Peter’s Gospel presentation in this passage; what gospel truths does Peter present to the
Gentiles? Why does his gospel presentation differ somewhat than his sermons in Acts 2 and 4? What are the essentials we cannot leave out of the gospel presentation?
2) Spend time developing a short presentation of the gospel together as a group.
Point 2: The Gospel seal (10:44–48)
READ Ephesians 1:13, 14; 1 Corinthians 2:1–5
3) What does Paul mean in Ephesians by, “sealed by the promised Holy Spirit?” What inheritance are
we to inherit? What comfort does being sealed by the promised Holy Spirit bring you right now?
4) In 1 Corinthians, what does Paul tell the Corinthians about his presentation of the gospel? What would it look like for someone’s faith to rest in the “wisdom of men”? How does this give you hope in sharing the Gospel?
Point 3: The Gospel accepted (11:1–18)
READ Matthew 16:13–28
5) What are the evidences in this passage that the Gospel has been accepted? What are some practical
ways you could use these verses as checks and balances for your own life?
6) What does Jesus mean by, “on this rock I will build my church”? To what do the keys refer in this passage? How can the church use this passage to “test” the confession of faith of those in the congregation? What caution should we use in the “testing” someone’s confession of faith?
Practical Applications
1. Write out how you would present the Gospel to someone you know needs to hear it.
2. Pray about an opportunity to share the Gospel with the person you thought of in step #1.
3. When the opportunity comes, present the Gospel to the person you wrote to and prayed about.
Pray the passage
Jesus, you are the Savior of the nations! We praise you and thank you for your cross that crosses borders, nationalities, and reaches to the ends of the earth! You are our peace, our Messiah, our King, the Anointed One, the curse destroyer, the firstborn of the dead, our Judge and you have forgiven us our sins. We praise you Lord God Almighty!
We ask that you empower us by your Spirit to be bold in sharing the Gospel. Help us to know it deeply in our hearts so that it is what comes out of our mouths. Give us faith that you can save to the uttermost. We pray all of this in Jesus name, Amen.
Memorize & Meditate
“To [Jesus] all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name” (Acts 10:43).
Preparing for next week
Read: Matthew 21:1-11
Ask: questions of the text.
Pray: through text, for pastor as he prepares, for your heart to hear, for the congregation to hear, for all of us to be obedient.
