Be understanding

Show honor

Recognize she is the weaker vessel

Socially weaker (in the Roman and many other social contexts)

Physically weaker

This means that men should not use their size and strength to intimidate or force their wives to act in a certain way.

Remember their position

Treating your wife correctly is a spiritual issue. See verse 12.
