Arise and Go
Arise and Go
Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb.
Shabbath שַׁבָּת reveals to us two great truths - creation and redemption. The word itself means to cease or desist as did God following creation. But it also means to rest as in trusting in the redemptive work of God Almighty.
And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it.
Isn’t it interesting that the angel of the Lord, after having rolled the stone away revealing to us the completed work of redemption, sat down and shabbath (rested in it).
His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men.
And as the two Mary’s approached, the guards, those in opposition to the Christ, fell to the side as dead. When you run towards Jesus, everything that opposes His work in your life has to fall away as dead. But the further you move in your life from Him, the more those things will bind you.
But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.”
Have you ever had something so exciting and life impacting happen to you that you just could not stand to wait to tell others? When you have truly had a life transforming encounter with the resurrected Christ, you have to talk about.
So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him.
In their eagerness to share the Good News, they encounter Jesus, the Resurrected Christ on a personal level. Their response was to grab hold of (cleave to or debak) His feet and worship. When you are walking in obedience, the presence of God is sure to follow you. There Jesus will indeed meet with you and you have a burning desire to tell others to come and meet your Jesus.
While they were going, behold, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had taken place. And when they had assembled with the elders and taken counsel, they gave a sufficient sum of money to the soldiers and said, “Tell people, ‘His disciples came by night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ And if this comes to the governor’s ears, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” So they took the money and did as they were directed. And this story has been spread among the Jews to this day.
Isn’t it just like religion today to pervert the truth of the good news with money. Remember, the enemy of Jesus has to make up their truths then they have to prop them up with the wealth of the wicked. As such, every lie in your life that you are living that contradicts the truth of Christ, finds it’s strength to hang on based on the value you have assigned to it. We hang on to things we attach a value to (degree certificates, marriage license, things of loved ones gone on, money, emotions, past experiences.
Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted.
Like the Twelve, you have appointment with the Messiah. Will you stay in hiding or arise and go to the mountain for your meeting? There He has a Great Commission for you. Or will you be among those, who having seen the glory of God, still choose to doubt. Doubt is merely an excuse for disobedience.
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
All authority in heaven and earth is calling you. Let go of your doubts. Let go of the lies of the enemy that you have assigned value to and place your highest value on your commission of the Christ.
