The christian life is one of transformation.
The christian life is one of transformation.
New desires a new direction. A new mind.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
God is at work in us, to give us the will and the energy to do what He wants.
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
This is the greatest miracle, that He changes the sinner to love Him. To love righteousness, and to hate what he previously loved
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
In the New Covenant God doesn’t just forgive the sinner, He changes the sinner.
He replaces the old life with the new life.
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”
Your new life will consist of wanting to know God more.
You will know that your sins have been forgiven
Therefore, putting aside all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander,
like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation,
if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord.
And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh,
that they may walk in my statutes and keep my rules and obey them. And they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you.
And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.
Desiring holiness
Note that we are moved to follow Gods decrees after He has put His Spirit in us. Something that was lacking in us before.
This christian life without first receiving the new life is impossible. Its a burden we cannot bear. Instead we receive His new life and we called to live this new life with Him. Its a walk of faith not works.
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Come to Jesus live the life through Him. By His grace.
Lord I lay aside my heavy load. Forgive me, because i’ve been trying to do this on my own, in my own power. I receive you now. Place your yoke on my neck, lift of the yoke of legalism. Let me live by trusting and depending on you.” amen.
