1 Corinthians 10:1–33
I. THE SYMBOLS—vv. 1–5
1. Protection—vv. 1–2. Israel being led by a pillar of fire at night, and a cloud by day.
2. Provision—vv. 3–4. God provided manna and water.
3. Punishment—v. 5. Those who disobeyed were destroyed.
II. THE SIN—vv. 6–12
1. Problem—vv. 6–7. Desire, not evil as Israel did.
2. Perversion—vv. 8–9. 23,000 were killed in one day for breaking God’s commands.
3. Punishment—v. 10. Those who complained were killed by God. Give thanks to God—don’t complain.
4. Purpose—vv. 11–12. All these lessons are for a warning for God’s children.
III. THE SUCCOR—vv. 13–221. Power—v. 13. Power to overcome all temptation.2. Purity—vv. 14–16. We must leave sin, and purify ourselves, God will not go against our will.3. Partakers—vv. 17–19. Partakers with Christ, if we leave all sin and serve God.4. Partners—v. 20. Don’t be friends with sinners.5. Purging—vv. 21–22. Can’t serve God and Satan both.
IV. THE SEPARATION—vv. 23–301. Problem—vv. 23–24. Don’t cause others to stumble.2. Purity—vv. 25–26. Eat all things with thanksgiving.3. Pleasing—vv. 27–28. If invited to eat meat, eat.4. Partakers—vv. 29–30. If conscience is clear, eat meat.V. THE SALVATION—vv. 31–331. Praise—v. 31. Seek to bring glory to God.2. Problem—v. 32. Don’t be a stumbling block.3. Purpose—v. 33. Live and lead others to Christ.
