The Subtitle for this section is: One of You Will Betray Me.
betray
■ verb
1 act treacherously towards (one’s country) by aiding the enemy.
▶ be disloyal to or inform on.
Has anyone in here felt the betrayal of a close friend before?
Im not talking about “they made you mad”
“they talked behind your back
Im talking REAL BETRAYAL....
in the end your friendship really meant nothing to them the whole time.
turns out it was ALL fake...
Im not talking about someone you were “pretty” close to but someone who was REALLY close to you.
Someone you were around pretty much everyday.
Maybe it was one of your “best friends”…maybe it was even your spouse.
I’ve felt the pain of betrayal like this from a friend or two before.
Man, it hurts.
It hurts so bad.
It is confusing
But let me tell you how much I need to be conformed into the image of Christ.
I want you to know that just because I am a Pastor and a minister of the gospel of Christ…I am FAR from perfect, far from arriving…and “this pile of clay” (me) needs to be molded and shaped more and more into the image of Jesus Christ.
Because if I would have known that those “friends” of mine who betrayed me were going to do that to me on the front end…I would have never been friends with them in the first place.
I would have saved myself the heartache that I knew was going to come.
Wouldn’t you have done the same if you would have known?
BUT LOOK AT CHRIST!
He knew from the beginning but Christ still treated Judas as a friend…knowing the whole time…from the moment He called His name to follow Him that Judas would betray the Son of God
At the end of this night as Jesus is with His disciples, He prays what is called the High Priestly Prayer in Chapter 17…I can’t wait to get there and preach this chapter.
But, in verse 12 Jesus says this,:
He knew the whole time…yet still treated Judas with love all the way to the point of him walking out on Him.
Amazing, really.
