Jeremiah 18:1–6 (ESV)
1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2 “Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will let you hear my words.” 3 So I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was working at his wheel. 4 And the vessel he was making of clay was spoiled in the potter’s hand, and he reworked it into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to do. 5 Then the word of the Lord came to me: 6 “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter has done? declares the Lord. Behold, like the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.
As we look in the mirror we see that we are forgiven for our sins, but still see us a broken
We see our selves as not measuring up not perfect not good enough
We can not let our imperfections to keep us from sharing the Gospel
Our brokenness leads to problems, and when we are living in the middle of problems we feel worse
it is easy to see our trials and problems as a reason to not serve or talk about God
We feel hypocritical and we are
Just as the mark on the clay pot, changed the circumstances at the time BUT BUT BUT it didnt stop the clay from becoming the pot.
God is still working on us.
So how do we look at the problems and trials.
James 1:2–6 (ESV)
2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,
3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.
4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.
Your struggle is not always a result of you doing something wrong, but God preparing you to do something right.
Don’t wish for struggles to disrepair, but the strength to fight through it.
Ask God not to get rid of your struggles, but to prepare you to face them
Ask God to take you from being broken in struggle, to being whole in his purpose.
