Wash Me Lord

John 13:5 After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.

To begin with brothers and sisters the John 13 text says that Jesus knew that the time of His departure was at hand. Jesus knew that it was time for Him to die.Jesus knew that the scripture says that it is appointed unto man once to die and afterwards the judgement And brothers and sisters we all must die one day.

I know I’m right about because the book of Ecclesiastes says in the 3rd chapter and 1st verse that To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: 2 A time to be born, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; Because “time that has been won’t be no mo”. Everybody in here has a time to meet make our Maker.Amen?

And Jesus knew that He made a promise to Father God that He would go down to planet earth and redeem mankind from their sins all before the foundations of the world. In other words before the beginning ever began Jesus had already died for our sins in eternity past before Yes sir long before He died of the Cross at Calvary. Thank You Jesus. Jesus knew he was going to die and the time was near and His concern shifts toward those that He Loved because the MCV says in verse 1 He had always loved those who were his own in the world, and he loved them all the way to the end. This tells us that Jesus Loves us all the way to the end. “Brother can drop off, sisters can stop coming, mother and father can be dead and gone, but Jesus, He cares beyond the point of death. I don’t know about you but I’m so glad I’ve got a Savior that cares about me all the way to the end. Then look at verse 2 in the a clause, “Jesus and his followers were at the evening meal”. Brothers and sisters in Jesus’ day Banqueting and feasting were major parts of the social and religious life of the Israelites. This was a feast leading up too the Passover Feast which was prescribed to be observed according to the Mosaic law.

So brothers and sisters normally we would go straight to verse 4 But!! The Devil has to show his ugly head in the story. Because verse 2 says in the NCV that “The devil had already persuaded Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to turn against Jesus”.I look at this verse in the text and I said Man that’s just like the devil!!! The devil comes to steal kill and to destroy us… And Judas played a dirty, devilish, deviant role in helping the Sanhedrin counsel w/their plan to demote, demise, and destroy Jesus.

And let me say this while y’all listening, Mark my words It’s not the joker that you can’t stand that don’t ever want to be in your face!!!NO NO NO It’s that beloved homeboy or home-girl, it’s that so called best BFFL, And Man that’s the hurtingish thing you ever want to know!!! It hurts to know that it was nobody from the outside that was trying to do me in. It was somebody close to me.

And the scripture mentions that Simon the Leper was Judas’ daddy. And Simon was a member of the Sanhedrin counsel and Jesus had healed him. But I said that to say this, that’s how Judas got access to the inside scoop to the Sanhedrin counsel because his daddy was on it. I’m not saying it’s bad to have connections… But if you use those connection for evil purposes then that’s a bad connection.

And what strikes me, and makes me scratch my head is how Jesus knew all of this and stays calm cool and collected. The word of God says “Jesus knew that the Father had given him everything and that he had come from God and would return to God”.

In other word this was the agreement between God the Father and God the Son and that boy Judas ain’t doing nothing but facilitating the divine prophecy. Listen to me Sometimes God have enemies in your life so that they can move you to the place of facilitating the necessary change that has to happen, so you can go to the next level.

Jesus knew all of this and the bible says He Loved His disciples.and verse 4 from the KJV says “He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself”. This sounds like preparation… If you want to win in life you have to be prepared. Notice what Jesus does.

1. He no longer acts like an honored guest at the Banquet feast.

2. It’s not the prostitute Mary whose crying and washing Jesus feet with her hair at this point, and

3. Jesus takes on the Role of the Sacrificing Servant. Because anybody who is the honored guest, who takes off his outer garment and lay it aside then takes a serving towel and wraps it around Himself, is sacrificing His position of honor.

And sometimes we just have to come down off our high horse a be a servant!!!

Start Closing Slowly Because the bible says 5 After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.Um Um I imagine in my mind that Jesus said I know all of you and I still love. I love you in spite of your flaws in spite of you failures in spite of your fizzures

Well I’ve got close in here but I can imagine Jesus saying Nathaniel I still remember when you said Can anything good come out of Nazareth but I’m still washing your feet,

And James and John I still remember that y’all push your mama up to ask if one could sit on my right and the other of my left when I come into my kingdom and I’m still washing y’all feet, Oh Lordy and Judas I still know you’ll be the biggest betrayer of all times and yet I’m washing your feet

And the bible says that When Jesus got to Peter in verse 6 Peter, said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet too?” and verse 7 says “Jesus answered, “You don’t understand now what I am doing, but you will understand later.” and I heard the songwriter said I don’t know I have cry sometimes but we’ll understand it better by and by Oh Lordy

And Peter said No Lord you will never wash my feet.. And Jesus If I don’t wash your feet You’re not one of Mine. In other words We’ve got to be team Jesus. How many people are on the Lord’s side. If you’re on the Lord side

Stand up and tell your neighbor I’m On The Lord’s Side say Yeah 3x

I heard Peter saying Lord if that’s the case Wash me all over.Lord make me clean and 10 Jesus said, “After a person has had a bath, his whole body is clean. He needs only to wash his feet.

We’re going to wash our feet here tonight Oh Lord Somebody Give God some Glory

And Jesus said you men are clean, but not all of you.” 11 Jesus knew who would turn against him, and that is why he said, “Not all of you are clean.”12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and sat down again. He asked, “Do you understand what I have just done for you?

13 You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that is what I am. 14 If I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash each other’s feet. 15 I did this as an example so that you should do as I have done for you. 16 I tell you the truth, a servant is not greater than his master. A messenger is not greater than the one who sent him.

The songwriter said I’m just a nobody trying to tell everybody about somebody who can save anybody OH LORD Because I heard Jesus saying in verse 17 If you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them. If we do what Jesus said the bible says we will be blessed Oh Lord Tell your neighbor I’m Blessed I’m Blessed Praise the Lord. Hallelujah
