1 Thessalonians 5:1–2 (NASB95) — 1 Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you. 2 For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night.
while the Rapture, the exit resurrection, is along with the Church is included with the Mystery Doctrine, the Day of the Lord is very familiar with Paul’s audience.
Joel 2:30–32 (NASB95) — 30 “I will display wonders in the sky and on the earth, Blood, fire and columns of smoke. 31 “The sun will be turned into darkness And the moon into blood Before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes. 32 “And it will come about that whoever calls on the name of the Lord Will be delivered; For on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem There will be those who escape, As the Lord has said, Even among the survivors whom the Lord calls.
Malachi 4:1–6 (NASB95) — 1 “For behold, the day is coming, burning like a furnace; and all the arrogant and every evildoer will be chaff; and the day that is coming will set them ablaze,” says the Lord of hosts, “so that it will leave them neither root nor branch.” 2 “But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings; and you will go forth and skip about like calves from the stall. 3 “You will tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day which I am preparing,” says the Lord of hosts. 4 “Remember the law of Moses My servant, even the statutes and ordinances which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel. 5 “Behold, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord. 6 “He will restore the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, so that I will not come and smite the land with a curse.”
connected to The book event in the book of Revelation with the beginning of the day with the wrath of God.
Revelation 19:11–19 (NASB95) — 11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. 12 His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. 13 He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. 15 From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. 16 And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” 17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to all the birds which fly in midheaven, “Come, assemble for the great supper of God, 18 so that you may eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of commanders and the flesh of mighty men and the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them and the flesh of all men, both free men and slaves, and small and great.” 19 And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army.
History is being played out.
It will be as it is outlined in the Word of the Lord. Exactly. and that may not be the way our theological presuppositions lay it out to be.
1 Thessalonians 5:2 (NASB95) — 2 For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night.
It will come
Expediently
Expectantly
3. In the midst of finding Peace and security in the world.
1 Thessalonians 5:3 (NASB95) — 3 While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape.
Leading up to the Day of the Lord which will begin birth pangs
Jesus speaks of this
Matthew 24:1–14 (NASB95) — 1 Jesus came out from the temple and was going away when His disciples came up to point out the temple buildings to Him. 2 And He said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone here will be left upon another, which will not be torn down.” 3 As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” 4 And Jesus answered and said to them, “See to it that no one misleads you. 5 “For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many. 6 “You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. 7 “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. 8 “But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs. 9 “Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name. 10 “At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another. 11 “Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. 12 “Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold. 13 “But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. 14 “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.
Labor pains are the warning that the baby is about to arrive. they begin far apart. A pregnant woman may have a contraction on Monday. She knows the baby is coming and maybe becomes a little excited. the bags are packed ready to get to the hospital. but the contraction goes away and things get back to normal. Maybe on Wednesday there is another contraction. again, false alarm. its not yet.
then all of sudden contractions begin one after another as the baby is about to be born.
the one thing that is for sure, the baby is coming, the mother is not perpetually pregnant.
In the mean time those in the world will find comfort in their misery. They will seek for a Messiahless Peace a sudeu peace. Quite possibly this will be offered later by What we know will be Anti Christ. A charismatic leader that will seem to offer all the right things. He will be empowered by Satan, and will win the trust of the population. and anyone and anything that stands against namely those who are set free by knowing the truth, will be public enemy number one as they continue to spread the news of the risen savior.
It would seem like there will be a lull in the action that would allow a rest bet which may be compared to an eye of the storm where in the center there is culmist before the next wave of the battle begins.
People will carry on with normal life, they will enjoy the peace, but their peace will be short lived.
Luke 17:22–30 (NASB95) — 22 And He said to the disciples, “The days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. 23 “They will say to you, ‘Look there! Look here!’ Do not go away, and do not run after them. 24 “For just like the lightning, when it flashes out of one part of the sky, shines to the other part of the sky, so will the Son of Man be in His day. 25 “But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. 26 “And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27 they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 “It was the same as happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building; 29 but on the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 “It will be just the same on the day that the Son of Man is revealed.
Globalism and socialism is man’s means to bring peace to this world, is nothing different that what occurred in Babel. It is the same old play book. It is crafting a fear, real or imagined and satan capitalizes on it by offering an answer.
And again anyone that interferes with the Pseudo Peace is public enemy number 1
and incidentally there is but one prince of Peace
No it was not and is not Donald Trump
Isaiah 9:1–7 (NASB95) — 1 But there will be no more gloom for her who was in anguish; in earlier times He treated the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali with contempt, but later on He shall make it glorious, by the way of the sea, on the other side of Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles. 2 The people who walk in darkness Will see a great light; Those who live in a dark land, The light will shine on them. 3 You shall multiply the nation, You shall increase their gladness; They will be glad in Your presence As with the gladness of harvest, As men rejoice when they divide the spoil. 4 For You shall break the yoke of their burden and the staff on their shoulders, The rod of their oppressor, as at the battle of Midian. 5 For every boot of the booted warrior in the battle tumult, And cloak rolled in blood, will be for burning, fuel for the fire. 6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. 7 There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.
No, Jesus will not return to unit the world under the umbrella of one big happy family. It is he who will destroy the Pseudo Peace to establish the only peace that can be, peace with the creator.
And They will not escape
In Matthew 24
Matthew 24:36–46 (NASB95) — 36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. 37 “For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. 38 “For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 “Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left. 41 “Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one will be left. 42 “Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. 43 “But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. 44 “For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will. 45 “Who then is the faithful and sensible slave whom his master put in charge of his household to give them their food at the proper time? 46 “Blessed is that slave whom his master finds so doing when he comes.
1 Thessalonians 5:4–5 (NASB95) — 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief; 5 for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness;
the Darkness generally refers to the inability to comprehend the Word of the Lord. that is taking in the things that are spiritual appraised.
1 Corinthians 2:14–15 (NASB95) — 14 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. 15 But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one.
He who has an ear that we hear from Jesus and in Revelation is in reference to those who can spiritually appraise the things of God.
Ephesians 5:6–9 (NASB95) — 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers with them; 8 for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light 9 (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth),
As Children of life we are to appraise the world in light of divine revelation.
1 Thessalonians 5:4 (NASB95) — 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief;
What a curious statement here.
that the day would overtake you like a thief.
The things of God should not be a surprise to the child of light. we are born into the light. that gives us the accessibility to the truth which is the light but yet we could also be ignorant to it that is even being hearers only and not practitioners.
Luke 21:34–36 (NASB95) — 34 “Be on guard, so that your hearts will not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that day will not come on you suddenly like a trap; 35 for it will come upon all those who dwell on the face of all the earth. 36 “But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
If one is not walking in the word one is walking in the ways of the world. they are weighed down with the details of life and when trouble comes the confidence is quickly shaken. they seek world answers they worry like the world seeking worldly answers they themselves who should but do not have any answers.
Revelation 3:1–3 (NASB95) — 1 “To the angel of the church in Sardis write: He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars, says this: ‘I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. 2 ‘Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God. 3 ‘So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you.
The Child of light will live in confidence able to discern current events in light of divine truth inculcated in their hearts.
Revelation 16:15 (NASB95) — 15 (“Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps his clothes, so that he will not walk about naked and men will not see his shame.”)
1 Thessalonians 5:6 (NASB95) — 6 so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober.
As often is the case the in the bible, God’s word will tell us not to do one thing but this instead
So then Let us not sleep as others do
what is sleeping in this sense
Enhanced Strong’s Lexicon 2518 καθεύδω

to yield to sloth or sin
going about without a cognitive reality of
the spiritual warfare
the enemy
the spiritual life
the great example is the Movie the Matrix
Romans 13:11–14 (NASB95) — 11 Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed. 12 The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13 Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.
We can either in obedience pursue the truth growing in it that we will be found as obedient servants of the Lord. we are not to be conforming to this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds.
or
the truth can overtake us leaving us unprepared and shaken by the realities that the truth was there to prepare us for.
no cognitive reality? No cognitive reality of satan and the spiritual warfare or end times sinareos.
“well, I’m just going to trust in the Lord.”
NO you ignornant fool, you will fall apart when as a child of light you should be able to handle every thing that is coming your way!
1 Thessalonians 5:7 (NASB95) — 7 For those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night.
Carnal living leaves the believer conducting themselves as the children of darkness. there are plenty of them around. How many times in history of warfare has the one side in a surprize attack hit the enemy when they least expected it? Especially when they should have expected it.

the Church age believer must remain on alert that he is on hostile territory. and I know that many modern believing Christians do not want to bring up the issue of spiritual warfare that is Satan demons and the like but these things are real and just because we ignore them in our sleep does not mean that they stop being actively engaged.
But we are the sons of the light there is no excuse it is a call to our responsibility
.
The worse possible reality that one could imagine aside from eternal judgment is that there is no Judgment. That in dualism there is the struggle of good and evil. Sometimes good overcomes evil and sometimes evil dominates over good. If there is no justice, there is no God there is no hope.
The people wanted the coming of the Messiah, that he would bring Justice and the bringing of order to a chaotic world.
While the rapture is the conclusion of the church age, the Day of the Lord is the second coming when wrath of God comes upon evil of this world which is the beginning of his eternal reign in putting and end to cosmic rebellion.
the first Advent God sent a Lamb, the one without spot or blemish to save us from our sin.
the second Advent the Lion of Judah will come to devour his enemies.
Our hymn this morning is “Faith is the victory”
prayer
Even right after the Lord ascended into heaven the Disciples were looking up for His return.
The Rapture is Mystery Doctrine. that is that which was not disclosed to the old testament saints.
1 Corinthians 15:51–54 (NASB95) — 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “Death is swallowed up in victory.
The rapture is not a part of the Last times study. the Church is the Mystery. It is the calling out of the bride of Christ to be with the Lord forever. the Church is a Mystery so is the exit Resurrection of the church, not disclosed to the Old Testament saints.
What the Jewish mind understand though was the Day of the Lord. The Day coming that the Messiah would come to make his enemies a footstool for His feet. And that would include both Human and the demonic enemy the rulers, powers, world forces of this darkness, and the spiritual forces of wickedness in heavenly places.
This was expected during the first Advent. No one expected or anticipated the Death of Jesus on the cross even the demonic entities. No one perceived the resurrection either which was the mark to end of Satan’s career.
After 40 days the Disciples were wondering and maybe a little impatient to a point,
Acts 1:4–11 (NASB95) — 4 Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me; 5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, “Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; 8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” 9 And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them. 11 They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”
There was work to be done. The timing of the return of the Lord is a God matter, there was that which the disciples were now responsible for. The work of the great commission.
Ten days later, came the start of the Church age. the calling out the bride.
It is the time of the Holy Spirit in calling out the bride for the promised son.
John 6:37–40 (NASB95) — 37 “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out. 38 “For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 39 “This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. 40 “For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.”
When the Last convert from every last nation comes on the scene, then the church will be complete and the exit Resurrection will take place.
The Rapture marks the end of the churches role upon the earth and Israel once again will become the center piece of history moving into Daniel’s 70th week.
With the Bridegroom having recieved his bride the second advent will begin what the Jewish mind did understand which was the great and terrible day of the Lord.
The believers of Thessaloniki were still looking up. Much time had elapsed since the Lord had ascended into heaven. Even in the midst of their faithfulness, the people were going through trials and tribulation
The people were longing and waiting for the return of the Lord. Yes, it will be ushered in like the flood they themselves being preserved from it.
1 Thessalonians 5:1–2 (NASB95) — 1 Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you. 2 For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night.
Point of Doctrine
while the rapture of the Church is revealed Mystery, the Day of the Lord was known.
Paul lays out what happens after the removal of the church
Does this mean that The Rapture coincides with the Great and terrible day of the Lord?
Before that day, the Church will be removed off of the scene.
If the imaginary is played out it will look like the time of Noah, where Noah and His family were removed from the picture inside the ark sealed from the deluge.
It will look like Lot who was removed from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah and told not to look back.
it will look like the death angel during the passover when the people were told to remain in their homes and not look out.
One argument against those that speak of a pre-trib rapture is the fact that if the church does not think that it will go through the rapture than believers will not be prepared for it. the great and terrible day of the Lord is not something that the bride should be dreading. the bride will see her day when her bride groom comes to receive her. Her preparation that will see her through the challenges is the confident hope of his coming which comes from the word of the Lord which fortifies our hearts and the encouragement we render to one another in the assembly.
1 Thessalonians 5:1 (NASB95) — 1 Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you.
Acts 1:7–8 (NASB95) — 7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; 8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
You have the doctrine.
You know through scripture that the Great and terrible day will eventually come.
1 Corinthians 1:1–8 (NASB95) — 1 Paul, called as an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, 2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours: 3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 4 I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, 5 that in everything you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge, 6 even as the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed in you, 7 so that you are not lacking in any gift, awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, 8 who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
It is not wrong for the Believers to be like children awaiting for the return of their Lord.
this is our hope.
2 Peter 3:10–15 (NASB95) — 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up. 11 Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! 13 But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. 14 Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless, 15 and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you,
we are to love that appearing not dread it
2 Timothy 4:8 (NASB95) — 8 in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.
Folks of course still wanted to know, WHEN. When will these things take place. It amounts to Children asking
Are we there Yet?
There will be the lead up to that second advent of Christ. It is the Lord will allow for evil to have its say in the world even while men are seeking the possibility of Peace and striving for it.
Who is preaching the Gospel?
who should be preaching Gospel?
who is spreading the good news and soul winning and discipling.
How would you rate your own activity. How much are you preparing by being students and teachers?
Point of Doctrine:
1. The timing of these things are not the primary concern of the Disciples.
2. the prime objective is doing the work of the Lord.
there is good reason for the vagueness of the exact timing of the Lord’s return. We are to be diligent to the point of that coming. Knowing precisely the day or the hour may leave a generation of believers simply looking up at the sky Just as the disciples were doing at the ascension when there were that which they were to do.
People today are still questioning about the Lord? when is he going to return.
the answer is still the same, Your concern is not the when, but the work that is for you to do this day while it is still the day.
1 Thessalonians 5:2–3 (NASB95) — 2 For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. 3 While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape.
while there are those who are doing God’s business, there are those who are seeking to bring about Peace in the world. this will even be mislead churches who have dismissed the great commission and took on the false notion that the Churches mission is to establish world peace.
The day of the Lord will come unexpectedly. Without prior warning. While their may be indications that this could be the season, we are to get and stay ready to be ready.
1 Thessalonians 5:2 (NASB95) — 2 For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord (is coming) just like a thief in the night.
this speaks of the expediency and the unexpectedness by which it will occur. The events that will take place will be in close sequential order as it were in the time of Moses prior to the exodus as one plague after another was hitting. before the people could recover from one plague another hit.
Revelation 1:1 (NASB95) — 1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must soon take place; and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John,

the day. Mat. 24:42–44; 25:13. Mar. 13:34, 35. Lu. 12:39, 40. 2 Pe. 3:10. Re. 3:3; 16:15.

Soon τάχος tachos means quickness and speed by which these things are going to happen.
The Second coming will
be in quick succession one event after another
It will come without warning. there will be nothing that has to happen prior.
the things that people look at now and say are the fulfillment of prophecy could very well be setting the stage of end time events. but they could be historical tends.
1 Thessalonians 5:3 (NASB95) — 3 While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape.
Oh my my my. People will have found comfort in something.
Man is looking for Peace. every Beauty pageant contestant has made it her goal by her stunning charm and beauty to bring peace to this world.
Rome sought Peace by strength. It was Pax Romana. the peace of roam.
and it was some years back when all the music artist came together and sang heartful we are the world.
what the world is seeking is what Satan is seeking, to be like the most high through unity.
In our day as it has been throughout the world is currently seeking to bring the entire globe together under a social climate making all equal in order to bring world peace. Perhaps one man will be able to accomplish it in part and maybe that person will be the antichrist that for the first three and a half years into the tribulation there will be a false millennia. it will be a calm before the storm.
there will be the falling away from the faith for man had achieved what God could not through the Church.
1 Timothy 4:1–3 (NASB95) — 1 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron, 3 men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth.
Many churches are in a panic mode because there is an exodus from the churches as attendance is down. which opens the door for popular false teachers that can gain the ear of the restless and draw a crowd.
2 Timothy 4:1–5 (NASB95) — 1 I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. 5 But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
While church organizations are distressed, we should not be ignorant of the season which this may be it.
1 Thessalonians 5:3 (NASB95) — 3 While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape.
Labor pains are the warning that the baby is about to arrive. they begin far apart. A pregnant woman may have a contraction on Monday. She knows the baby is coming and maybe becomes a little excited. the bags are packed ready to get to the hospital. but the contraction goes away and things get back to normal. Maybe on Wednesday there is another contraction. again, false alarm. its not yet.
then all of sudden contractions begin one after another as the baby is about to be born.
the one thing that is for sure, the baby is coming, the mother is not perpetually pregnant.
the attitude that Paul expresses is the attitude that we was in the time of Noah which Jesus speaks and so does Peter
