4. Bethphage
A. Scholars and theologians grapple with the locale
B. Not only does Jesus ride a donkey as was prophesied but he picked it up in obscurity
C. Jesus from obscurity… Can anything good come out of Nazareth
5. You will find a colt tied up
A. Jesus has a thing will tied up stuff and tied of people
B. Sends his disciples for the tied up donkey
C. You were wrapped up, tied up, and tangled up; but you found out God will send someone to get you.
D. But when God says untie him or her everything hold you has got to let you go because the King of kings, the Lord of lords has spoken and when He speaks things happen
6. The “lord” or owner of the donkey for one reason or another had the donkey tied up but any time your tied up in might mean at times you’ve got the wrong Lord….
A. But the Bible says if the donkeys lords approach you tell them The Lord hath need of him
B. Because the disciples name, your name and my name won’t get you across the street. But when you tell somebody God needs you. When God puts his name and His power out there something happens
C. Everybody right here and now could say your name and nothing would happen. But if somebody hollered Jesus the atmosphere would change. Something would happen. Demons would tremble… because there is power in that name!
7. The untrained, uncontrolled, inexperienced Donkey from an obscure place where nobody knows is now responsible to be the Uber driver for Jesus coming into Jerusalem
8. The Bible says they laid cloaks or their garments down… they rolled out the red carpet. And it is clear that such an honor was not bestowed upon the donkey but in Jesus
9. But the thing the text teaches me is that I don’t have to be in charge Jesus you got that just take me along on the ride
10. And when I’m on the ride I’ll be thinking about I was unworthy, uncontrolled, untrained, inexperienced, wrapped up, tied up, tangled up. But when Jesus sat on me… all that went out the window
11. Because when He sat on me the Prince of Peace sat on me. That when I couldn’t control myself He’d give me some self control….. he cleaned me up, put me back together, loosed by chains, destroyed the yokes, lifted the heavy burdens… changed my name and I’m no longer the same because one day He sat on me
12. So I’ve got one thing to say ride on King Jesus.
