Jesus Triumphant Entry
Jesus Triumphant Entry
Luke 19:28 “When He had said this, He went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.”
Jesus was from Jericho to Jersulem was a difficult uphill hike of about 15 miles in distance and 3500 feet in altitude.
The time I walked up 7 mountain's in Haiti
The time I ran the 5k.
Jesus is approaching Jerusalem, this is the place Jesus predicted that he would be crucified.
This is the ultimate destination of his trip was the crucifixion.
From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.
Matt 20:18-19 ““Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death, and deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify. And the third day He will rise again.””
Luke 19:30-31 “saying, “Go into the village opposite you, where as you enter you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Loose it and bring it here. And if anyone asks you, ‘Why are you loosing it?’ thus you shall say to him, ‘Because the Lord has need of it.’ ””
Zec 9:9 ““Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.”
Jesus could have came in on an Elephant or a horse .
But he came in on a Donkey, which is symbolic for peace.
2 Samuel 16:2 “And the king said to Ziba, “What do you mean to do with these?” So Ziba said, “The donkeys are for the king’s household to ride on, the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat, and the wine for those who are faint in the wilderness to drink.””
Judges 5:10 ““Speak, you who ride on white donkeys, Who sit in judges’ attire, And who walk along the road.”
That shows the humility of Jesus.
Matt 11:28-30 “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.””
Jesus issues a call to all.
All of humanity is weary. Over burden.
The Bible Knowledge Commentary 11:25–30
People’s weariness comes from enduring their burdens, probably the burdens of sin and its consequences.
Hosanna means “Save Now”
Psalm 118:26 “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! We have blessed you from the house of the Lord.”
Luke 19:40 “But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.””
Luke 19:41-44 “Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation.””
Jesus prophesied that this was going to happen. That the city of Jerusalem would be destroyed and over taken .
This was the first Jewish/Roman war. Happened in AD 70 . The Romans destroyed the second temple. The stone from the temple still remain tell this day.
Theres a rejection of the Messianic peace and in-exchange would receive war.
1 Just like humanity today we reject Gods peace for us in-exchange we receive war.
2. The urges of mans heart is strong. Mans desire to be in the know. To be clued up is strong. To the point where Gods life is forfeited because my curiosity.
