Joshua 3:5-10
Illustration: Nike: Goddess of victory
Title: Living a victorious life

Consecration

make yourself holy, to be set apart, distinguish from common use

1 Peter 1:16 “since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.””
They were to sanctify themselves. if we want to experience the effects of God’s love and power, we must put away sin, and be careful not to grieve the Holy Spirit of God.
Separate from sin
2 timothy 2:19 “But God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.”
Separate from the entanglements of the world
How often do you consider eternity?
My Favorite Illustrations Keep the Water out of the Boat

For a ship to fulfill its purpose it must be in the water. But woe betide it if the water gets into the boat. Likewise, we are in the world. But we must ever be alert that the world does not get into us.

Fasting & prayer

Those who would bring great things to pass, must rise early.

Wonders-

Miracles: mighty acts of God, inexplicable events

NIV “Amazing things!”
Supernatural- Psalm 77:14 “You are the God who works wonders; you have made known your might among the peoples.”
Daniel 6:27 “He delivers and rescues; he works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth, he who has saved Daniel from the power of the lions.””
My Favorite Illustrations God and Miracles

It is quite clear God performed a miracle at Jordan. Many times I have been asked, “Why does not God work such miracles today?” The question is not whether He can, but how He chooses to work. God reveals Himself in terms of people’s spiritual development and ability to receive and comprehend the revelation.

Mark 9:29 “And he said to them, “This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer.””
Ex: Woman healed of hearing loss at the Pastor Zebole Revival
God’s mighty hand -
Psalm 136:12 “with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, for his steadfast love endures forever;”
Deuteronomy 26:8And the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with great deeds of terror, with signs and wonders.”

Drive out-

Victory over the enemy

The Enemy inhabits areas of our lives that we should have victory
are you living in defeat?
Romans 8:37 “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
God has given you the victory
My Favorite Illustrations The Secret of Success

A military tactician said that battles are won before they are fought. That was his way of saying that victory depends on prior preparation. One general called it “Making a good ready.” The same principles apply in spiritual warfare. God in Christ has made all necessary prior preparation in effecting His eternal purpose of redemption to give us victory over sin.

Colossians 2:15 “He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.”
1 John 5:4-5 “For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”

More Perfect Illustrations: For Every Topic and Occasion Victory: Keeping Discouragement at Bay

A man stopped to watch a Little League baseball game. He asked one of the youngsters what the score was. “We’re losing 18–0,” was the answer.

“Well,” said the man. “I must say you don’t look discouraged.”

“Discouraged?” the boy said, puzzled. “Why should we be discouraged? We haven’t come to bat yet.”

we have to keep discouragement at bay and understand as long as God is on our side, there is always the possibility of victory!!!
Don’t look to Nike, the goddess of victory, Consecrate yourself to God and you will experience miracles and victory over the enemy
