For a ship to fulfill its purpose it must be in the water. But woe betide it if the water gets into the boat. Likewise, we are in the world. But we must ever be alert that the world does not get into us.
Those who would bring great things to pass, must rise early.

It is quite clear God performed a miracle at Jordan. Many times I have been asked, “Why does not God work such miracles today?” The question is not whether He can, but how He chooses to work. God reveals Himself in terms of people’s spiritual development and ability to receive and comprehend the revelation.

A military tactician said that battles are won before they are fought. That was his way of saying that victory depends on prior preparation. One general called it “Making a good ready.” The same principles apply in spiritual warfare. God in Christ has made all necessary prior preparation in effecting His eternal purpose of redemption to give us victory over sin.
A man stopped to watch a Little League baseball game. He asked one of the youngsters what the score was. “We’re losing 18–0,” was the answer.
“Well,” said the man. “I must say you don’t look discouraged.”
“Discouraged?” the boy said, puzzled. “Why should we be discouraged? We haven’t come to bat yet.”
