We are nearing the end of our current series through Holy Week. We have just a couple of more weeks, and we will back to our series “Building T.E.M.P.O.”
Last week, we looked at the purpose of Passover and took a journey through scripture to see where it came from and what its intended purpose was. Once we were able to understand the purpose of it, we were able to see the power of it in our lives today.
Today, we are going to look at one last event that took place before our Lord was crucified. He was presented before the crowds of Jerusalem, along with a murderer, and they had to make a choice whom would go free.
Pontius Pilate was the governor of Judea at the time Jesus was adjudicated, judged worthy of death, and sentenced to die upon that cross. Pilate had Jesus before him and he had to make a decision.
This is the questions that Pilate asked before that crowd: What shall I do with Jesus, which is called Christ?
I want you to know that no greater question could be asked of any person than that: What will you do with Jesus?
Now in this particular time, Jesus was before Pilate being judged by Pilate. There’s coming a time when Pilate will stand before Jesus and be judged by Jesus. Pilate had Jesus on his hands and in his hands. Now, Pilate is in the hands of Jesus.
Now what does that have to do with all of us?
In a very real sense, Pilate represents every man, woman, boy, and girl upon the face of the Earth who’s asked the same question: What will I do with Jesus?”
As Jesus was before Pilate, Jesus is before you. As Jesus was in Pilate’s hands, Jesus is in your hands. But one of these days, as Pilate will stand before Jesus, so will you stand before Jesus.
So I am going to ask you today to answer that question: What will I do with Jesus?
Let me just say concerning that question:
It is a present question.
It is a personal question.
It is a pertinent question.
It is a pressing question.
Everybody has to decide what to do with this question. Everybody in this room today will accept Him or reject Him; Confess Him or Deny Him; Crown Him or Crucify Him. Nobody can be neutral regarding this question.
To get started, we are going to see what Pilate’s decision was. It was an awful decision, and I pray that you will not also make the same decision he made, but you must make a decision.
The title of the message today is: What Will you do with Jesus?
22 Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all said to him, “Let Him be crucified!”

The first trial of Jesus was a mockery of justice, so I am going to put Jesus on trial again today. We are going to listen to a few witnesses who will testify on Jesus’ behalf, and you as the jury, must make a decision.
John the Baptist
29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
Simon Peter
16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
John the Apostle

Thomas
28 And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”

Pharisees
2 And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, “This Man receives sinners and eats with them.”
Caiphas
Matthew 26:57–66 (NKJV)
57 And those who had laid hold of Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.
58 But Peter followed Him at a distance to the high priest’s courtyard. And he went in and sat with the servants to see the end.
59 Now the chief priests, the elders, and all the council sought false testimony against Jesus to put Him to death,
60 but found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none. But at last two false witnesses came forward
61 and said, “This fellow said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days.’ ”
62 And the high priest arose and said to Him, “Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?”
63 But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, “I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!”
64 Jesus said to him, “It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
65 Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, “He has spoken blasphemy! What further need do we have of witnesses? Look, now you have heard His blasphemy!
66 What do you think?” They answered and said, “He is deserving of death.”
Centurion
39 So when the centurion, who stood opposite Him, saw that He cried out like this and breathed His last, he said, “Truly this Man was the Son of God!”
Judas
4 saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” And they said, “What is that to us? You see to it!”
Pilate
4 Pilate then went out again, and said to them, “Behold, I am bringing Him out to you, that you may know that I find no fault in Him.”
Demon
34 saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”
God the Father
17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
