Introduction
6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, Saith the Lord of hosts.
27 Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?
1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: The whole earth is full of his glory.
4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.
6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; And see ye indeed, but perceive not.
Body
Body
We acknowledge the omnipotence of God, the Sovereignty of God, the Omniscience of God, and yet, He has decreed that He will only work through people.
If anything of import is to be accomplished here, it will be because a man or a woman steps up and steps out and declares to God “here am I; Send me!”
Why would God bind Himself to us?
I don’t know why exactly, but I know that He does!
Mark 16:19 “19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.”
Hebrews 2:1-4 “1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. 2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; 3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; 4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?”
God’s responsibility in His creation is unfathomable! But that doesn’t mean we have no responsibility, or that we can afford to grow lax and expect that God will just pick up our slack.
We too have an enormous amount of responsibility to God.
How do I know this?
Spiritual Authority
God only delegates authority sufficient to take care of our responsibilities.
Ex. Man is the head of the house only because God holds the man accountable for what goes on in the home.
God has given man the authority in his home only because God has also given him the responsibility to rear his family up in the fear and admonition of the Lord.
The man has no authority outside of discharging his God-given responsibilities.
So then, the more responsibility, the more authority God delegates to take care of them.
How much authority do we possess as children of God?
Maybe not much in the physical, but you possess an inordinate amount of authority in the Spirit!
Mark 11:22-24 “22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”
Mark 16:15-18 “15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
Matthew 10:7-8 “7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. 8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.”
How much authority does God possess? Absolute! Infinite!
He therefore by His own decree becomes responsible for everything that happens in His creation.
Who is He responsible to? To Himself, and to us.
Hebrews 6:13-15 “13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, 14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. 15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.”
So, God is infinite, omnipresent, omnipotent, Omniscient, possesses absolute authority, and yet has bound Himself to work through you and through me.
God has responsibilities to Himself and to us, and we have responsibilities to God.
We’re not going to worry about God’s responsibilities today. Let’s focus on the responsibilities we have to God
What are our responsibilities to God
Availability
Availability
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
God will not force anyone to serve Him, and He will not force anyone to work for Him. His is a volunteer army.
When we volunteer, we don’t get to pick the job, or the area of our field of labor.
When we volunteer, we are asked to count the cost.
God is not looking for people of talent, or ability, or wealth, or lots of connections. He can provide all of that. He is looking for someone to show HImself strong through
Obedience
Obedience
19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
Once we say yes to God, we must be obedient to His calling
Some want to make themselves available, but for these tasks only, please.
And if I can’t do one of these, no thank you, Jesus.
NOT an option! We say yes to God, we must obey where He sends us, and we must do what He asks of us.
Why? God is literally discharging His responsibilities to His creation through us!
When we minister to someone in the power of the Holy Ghost, two things take place
God fulfills His responsibility to the individual to make Himself known to them, His gospel message of salvation, their needs met, etc.
We fulfil our responsibility to God by submitting ourselves to God and becoming obedient to Him.
Faithfulness
Faithfulness
13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
We must stay the course no matter what because God stayed the course for us
We’re not responsible for the results. We’re responsible to stay the course.
We’re responsible for witnessing to people, not for saving people
We’re responsible to pray for someone, not to heal someone ourselves
Conclusion
Conclusion
We make ourselves available to be used by God, we obey when God calls on us to do something, and we stay at it for as long as God wants us to.
Our responsibility to God is to help Him discharge His self-imposed responsibilities to man.
