I. Judas was a Treacherous Treasurer: John 12:6
I. Judas was a Treacherous Treasurer: John 12:6
Now he said this, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box, he used to pilfer what was put into it.
A. We know it was too late for Judas, but not you. They found out much too late that Judas was a thief.
B. Too many give in order to keep from being guilty, but they’re not giving out of love, but out of superstition. Make sure your heart is right.
II. Judas was a Phony Preacher: Matt. 7:21-23
II. Judas was a Phony Preacher: Matt. 7:21-23
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.
“Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’
“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’
A. Judas was sent out to preach and do miracles like the other disciples. He would sound just like these people.
B. Too many are phonies, who do good works thinking that they will get them into Heaven. We can’t earn it, we can’t buy it. It is by grace, through faith. Not religion, but faith.
III. Judas was a Hateful Hypocrite: Matt. 26:21-25
III. Judas was a Hateful Hypocrite: Matt. 26:21-25
As they were eating, He said, “Truly I say to you that one of you will betray Me.”
Being deeply grieved, they each one began to say to Him, “Surely not I, Lord?”
And He answered, “He who dipped his hand with Me in the bowl is the one who will betray Me.
“The Son of Man is to go, just as it is written of Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.”
And Judas, who was betraying Him, said, “Surely it is not I, Rabbi?” Jesus said to him, “You have said it yourself.”
A. Judas saw Jesus as a good teacher, not his Lord and Savior.
B. Too many see Jesus as a get out of hell free card and not their Lord and Savior. And like Judas will go to hell, if they do not change. God to Jesus as Savior and Lord and be saved today.
