I not yet comfortable with laying this out in a dogmatic statement of fact of the end times. I know what I have grown up, but there are still things that I am wrestling with and cannot in full confidence say that this is the way it is. remember this point.
Prophecy is seen 20/20 in hindsight and I will be dogmatic when I say that after Prophecy has come to its completing one will not be able to site one contradiction in the bible.
so with that said I Have the right to be wrong and I will humble admit it and submit for correction if necessary.
The Church age will have ended with the taking of the bride as it is the church both who have died and those who are left and remain will be called up together in the clouds with the Lord.
1 Thessalonians 4:16–18 (NASB95) — 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
The Rapture could take place a period of time prior to the seven years.
1 Thessalonians 5:1–3 (NASB95) — 1 Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you. 2 For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. 3 While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape.
As Noah was secure in the ark for seven days there will appears to be a period of time Prior to the beginning of the tribulations when the believers and unbelievers will be separated. Some teachers and commentators take that the tribulation will begin immediately after the rapture.
With the Church out of the picture does not mean that door of Salvation is shut.
No. Evangelism continues. it is reinforced by the Resurrection of the two witnesses in Revelation 12 and there are 144,000 witnesses throughout the world Revelation 14. there are those that are believing as in every generation and as persecution often does it only fuels the movement.
The seven year actually begins with some kind of covenant made between Israel and the man of Lawlessness which is the Antichrist.
Daniel 9:26–27 (NASB95) — 26 “Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined. 27 “And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate.”
Compared 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3 to the time of Noah this to the historical account of Noah
Genesis 7:1 (NASB95) — 1 Then the Lord said to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and all your household, for you alone I have seen to be righteous before Me in this time.
The righteous are removed prior to the judgment. There is a period of time as the clock is ticking down to the pending judgment.
the door of the ark is closed. the window of opportunity for deliverance is over.
Genesis 7:10 (NASB95) — 10 It came about after the seven days, that the water of the flood came upon the earth.
Matthew 24:37–39 (NASB95) — 37 “For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. 38 “For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be.
At some period prior the church Age would have ended with the removal of the Church. The Day of the Lord begins when the Son of man returns to the earth in battle gear.
Daniel 7:13–14 (NASB95) — 13 “I kept looking in the night visions, And behold, with the clouds of heaven One like a Son of Man was coming, And He came up to the Ancient of Days And was presented before Him. 14 “And to Him was given dominion, Glory and a kingdom, That all the peoples, nations and men of every language Might serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion Which will not pass away; And His kingdom is one Which will not be destroyed.
This kingdom will be ushered in by Daniels 70th week. that week begins with a false millinum. a time of peace a time of trust. A dynamic world leader is on the scene. He has gained the trust of the world conservatives religious groups even the nation Israel who has recieved him as the prince of peace.
There will be pseudo peace a false peace, a calm before the storm. How much impact did the rapture make during this time if we can agree on a pre trib rapture we don’t know. but this period of time people are enjoying this peace and maybe multitudes are adoring this global leader.
at this point the people saying peace people
Jeremiah 6:14–15 (NASB95) — 14 “They have healed the brokenness of My people superficially, Saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ But there is no peace. 15 “Were they ashamed because of the abomination they have done? They were not even ashamed at all; They did not even know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; At the time that I punish them, They shall be cast down,” says the Lord.
at this point it parallels the time of Noah. People were living their lives with not much thought of God or wrath when the Judgment will come suddenly upon them. Maybe the Socialist will finally have their utopia. a Messiahless Utopia.
The peace will be broken It will however half way within the tribulation will come the one who makes desolate who sits himself up as God himself. this will mark the time of the great tribulation. and the wrath of God is poured out.
The change in conditions will come unexpectedly, fearfully, without warning as the seven bowl and seven trumpet judgments which are the wrath of God is poured out upon the world.
This is the great and terrible day of the Lord.
where are the people of Israel living in the world at this time. Where were they when the Lord was pouring out his wrath against Egypt. they were still in the land. or outside of it in Goshen.
this will fit that historic senario (if it is played out) the Righteous are taken out in the time of Noah. but God’s children Israel will be given supernatural protection while still on this earth.
Revelation 12:3–6 (NASB95) — 3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: and behold, a great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads were seven diadems. 4 And his tail swept away a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she gave birth he might devour her child. 5 And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron; and her child was caught up to God and to His throne. 6 Then the woman fled into the wilderness where she had a place prepared by God, so that there she would be nourished for one thousand two hundred and sixty days.
Now all of this revelation may be pretty troubling to those who cannot discern the Prophetical setting as it is being revealed.
He tells what is going to take place in the day of the Lord. and it is devastating to those when this time comes. they have spent their lives willfully ignorant of God’s word. they have rejected the Judgment they have believed in their hearts that the Lord will come. in fact they have mocked it.
2 Peter 3:3–7 (NASB95) — 3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.” 5 For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, 6 through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. 7 But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
Paul just laid out the Judgment of the ungodly, He comforts his hearers with the fact that the judgement is not against the whole but against the enemies of God. and he turns to offer encouragement. Now Paul turns his attention to the ones who have the hope.
1 Thessalonians 5:4–10 (NASB95) — 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief;
Note these people will not even be around. Your asking the question,
If the rapture happens, prior to the day of the Lord then who is Paul talking to. that is a good question. One that I may not have a good answer for.
One idea though is the fact that Paul through inspiration of the spirit is writing to those very Jews that will be facing this day. and it will be that they will see this day coming and they will need this revelation to see them through.
5 for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness; 6 so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober.
Sons of light refers to the born again believer. Those who can spiritually appraise the things of God and discern the historical events that are taking place.
Enhanced Strong’s Lexicon 2518 καθεύδω

Ignorance is equated to be in the dark. It is bible doctrine that is recieved and spiritual appraised by the spiritually man under the filling ministry of God the God the holy spirit. it does take work, and it takes discipline to learn God’s word. this is what Paul writes to Timothy
2 Timothy 2:15–19 (NASB95) — 15 Be diligent
Enhanced Strong’s Lexicon 4704 σπουδάζω
4704 σπουδάζω [spoudazo /spoo·dad·zo/] v. to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. 16 But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness, 17 and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18 men who have gone astray from the truth saying that the resurrection has already taken place, and they upset the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness.”
7 For those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night. 8 But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him.
