Introduction:
Welcome Everyone
Recap Ryan’s Sermon
“Fearfully and Wonderfully Made Article
In the summer of 2005, the London Zoo posted a sign in front of their newest exhibit, reading, “Warning: Humans in their Natural Environment.”
The exhibit featured eight humans in a sealed enclosure adjacent to another sealed enclosure of various primates.
The human “captives” were chosen from an online contest, and spent their time sunning on a rock ledge, playing board games, and waving to spectators.
A signboard informed visitors about the species’ diet, habitat, worldwide distribution, and threats.
The goal of the exhibit, according to Zoo spokesperson Polly Wills, was to downplay the uniqueness of human beings as a species.
“Seeing people in a different environment, among other animals,” said Wills, “teaches members of the public that the human is just another primate.”
Tom Mahoney, one of the participants in the exhibit, agreed.
“A lot of people think that humans are above other animals,” he said.
“When they see humans as animals, here, it kind of reminds them that we’re not that special.”
This is in direct contradiction to the Bible which says that man is fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God.
The narrative of evolution brought a lot of confusion to my generation.
This made many, including some in the church, doubt the creation of the world and mankind that is found in the bible.
Today, your generation is dealing with a lot of confusion regarding genders/sexuality.
Tonight, my goal is to end the confusion and tackle the following questions;
1.) Who’s image am I created out of?
2.) Are there more than 2 sexes?
3.) Why giving in to same-sex temptations is destructive.
(Prayer)
Who’s Image am I Created Out Of?
The verses we just read don’t hide who’s image we are created from.
We are created in the image of God.
The first sentence of this chapter says, “In the beginning God..” God created all things in His perfect way.
So if we are created in God’s image, what did He exactly make us to do?
1.) Resemble The Character of God:
“Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness.”
Likeness (Resemble): Similarity in appearance, character, or nature between person or things.
(Example: Copy Cat Game)
“We are created to copy the characteristics of God.”
Characteristics of God:
Perfect
Faithful
Creator
Lord
Savior
Just
Love
Joy
Peace
Promise Keeper
Light
2.) Rule the Whole Earth:
“They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, the whole earth, and the creatures that crawl on the earth.”-Genesis
1:26
“God, out of grace, gave us authority to rule.
That is why He established basic principles that help us rule in ways that glorify Him.”
3.) Marriage:
Are There More Than 2 Sexes?
I went through the LGBTQ glossary of words and definitions and there were about 60 different definition of sexes/gender terms.
After reading this article, I was confused by some of their terms and disturbed.
So the question at hand, “Are there more than 2 sexes?”, if you ask the world, they will say yes.
If you look at the Word of God, the answer is quite clear.
“If we say that the we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and that His word is truth, then we believe that God created male and female only.”
Why all the confusion then?
It doesn’t come from God, it comes from satan.
"There is no confusion when it comes to the creation of humans.
God created males and females.
The only reason there is confusion is because of sin and the narrative to get rid of God."
Why Is Giving Into Same-Sex Temptations Destructive:
“Love is love.”
“Hey!
If they are happy, leave them alone.”
“Why are you making such a big deal of same-sex activities?
I don’t see you harping on those who commit heterosexual sins..”
“Love is Love”:
The definition of love that is being thrown around is a false definition.
False Love Definition: If you love someone, you will allow them to do whatever they want.
True love, tells the truth, in love.
Telling The Truth: To speak or make known statements consistent with fact or reality.
“If they are happy, leave them alone.”
1/3 of youth students who struggle with same-sex attraction have attempted suicide.
(NBC April 2021 Article)
15% of gay marriages end in divorce
(PrideLegal February 2021)
Those that identify as LGBTQ are more than twice as likely to abuse substances like alcohol, heroin, and opioids.
(American Addictions Center October 2021)
“The truth is, those who give into same-sex temptations aren’t happy.
They are empty.”
“Why don’t you address heterosexual sin like same-sex sin.”
I’ll be honest, the church, including myself, have not handled this with love.
It is very easy to become judgemental.
Let me first say that all sexual sin (same-sex or heterosexual sin) is destructive.
We are commanded to flee from it.
