UC Montbello - Central Presbyterian Church - Trinity UMC
Prelude - Mr. Paul Griggby
Welcome to our Worship time together, this Good Friday night. As we gather tonight we acknowledge our gathering in this ONLINE service only is a testament to the COVID-19 pandemic that began to drastically change things in our faith communities in March of 2020. Over 5 years ago, I approached my colleague the Reverend Louise Westfall, Pastor of Central Presbyterian Church about joining in this effort on Good Friday that embodies the very best of who we are as an Ecumenical Church. This year, I am glad to welcome the Reverend Ken Brown, Pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church. I am also honored to welcome live music by Paul Griggsby Interim Music Director, John Seezholtz Bass Section leader and soloist at Central Presbyterian Church, Mr Joe Mazza, Director of Creative Productions at Trinity UMC......1968, the year of our founding was a hard and difficult year in America.
A year that might have been defined by the deaths of Mlk or Robert Kennedy in June

LUKE 23:32-33,39-43
One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple he loved standing there, he said to his mother, “Woman, here is your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.
