Prayer first then the introduction.
Introduction: You can tell a lot about people by observing them.
Transition:
Text: John 13:34-35
John 13:34–35 NKJV
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

I. Saints Have Been Charged

John 13:34 NKJV
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
A new or fresh commandment (an authoritative direction or instruction to do something) Christ gave or bestowed on them,
You (the disciples) love (have a warm regard for and interest in, cherish, have affection for) each other (disciples love disciples)
John 14:15 NKJV
15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments.
John 15:10 NKJV
10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
John 15:12 NKJV
12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
John 15:17 NKJV
17 These things I command you, that you love one another.
1 John 3:23 NKJV
23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
Ill: New law given
App: This is a statutes not a suggestion. This is a precept not a pro

II. Saints Have Clarification

John 13:34 NKJV
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
John 15:9 NKJV
9 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.
The disciples would be able to abide in Christ’s love by keeping His commandments, just like He kept the Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
What are Christ’s commandments?
1. Abide Christ’s Love
His eyes always look in Love
Phil2.4 “4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”
His hands always help in Love
Gal 5.13 “13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.”
His feet always walk in Love
Eph5.2 “2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.”
His ears always listen in Love
Gal 6.2 “2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
His mouth always welcome in Love
Tit3.15 “15 All who are with me greet you. Greet those who love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.”
His mind always thinks in Love
Rom 14:19 “19 Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another.”
His heart always beats in Love
John 15:12–13 NKJV
12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
1st the disciples of Christ love each other as Christ loved them.
The love is described in laying down one’s life for his friends. Saints ought to see each other as friends and as friends be willing to lay down their lives for them.
1 John 4:20–21 NKJV
20 If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? 21 And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.

III. Saints will See the Consequences

John 13:35 NKJV
35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
All will know. All who come in contact with you will know that you are His disciple. How?
Through a block party? No, the world throws parties
Through a food pantry? No, the world gives away food
Through a clothes closet? No, the world gives away clothing
Through community events? No, the world has community events
Wait I thought that the church needs to show the world that we love them and don’t we do this through these types of ministries? Well, remember what Jesus said about the world.
John 15:18–20 NKJV
18 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.
John said this in 1 John 2:15
1 John 2:15 NKJV
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
So the world may hate disciples of Christ, because they hated Christ. The World love its own, but we have been chosen out of the world. We are not to love the world nor the things in the world.
How will people know that you are Christ’s disciple? How will they know that you been born again?
How will they know that you have been redeemed, regenerated, rescued out of darkness, and reconciled back to God? Look at the text again
John 13:35 NKJV
35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
When Christians love one another in the body of Christ. When we love saints . . .
Regardless of age
Regardless of gender
Regardless of status
Regardless of race
Paul is known to us as an Apostle of Jesus Christ, a church planter, a disciple maker. So some one of his caliber and work with new converts, what did Paul look for?
Ephesians 1:15 NKJV
15 Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,
Colossians 1:3–4 NKJV
3 We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, 4 since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints;
Philemon 4–5 NKJV
4 I thank my God, making mention of you always in my prayers, 5 hearing of your love and faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints,
Galatians 5:6 NKJV
6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.
Peter was looking for the same thing
1 Peter 1:22–23 NKJV
22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, 23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,
Therefore we need to remind each other of our responsibilities. John called us to do this in 1 John 4:7-8
1 John 4:7–8 NKJV
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
The writer of Hebrews called us to do this in Hebrews 10:24
Hebrews 10:24 NKJV
24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,
They will know We are Saved
They will know that God’s Love abides in Us
They will know that We are Children of God
They will know that Our lives have been transformed by Christ.
Do they people on the job know that you have a Mandate
Do they know that you have Method
Do they know that yo
