Friday is here but Sunday is coming
Good morning and welcome to Oasis Church, welcome to our online family, it is great to have you join with us today. If you are visiting with us, we welcome you.
I have titled my message tonight We have hope.
We have hope because of Gods plan and purpose to redeem us, to restore His creation back to relationship with Him. The bible tells us in:
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
We Have Hope
We Have Hope
The Word of God encourages us with the many promises that if we follow Jesus with all of our hearts we have hope. He will never fail us.
There is nothing that can separate us from the love of God! Our hope, is secure and true – failure cannot remove it from us or any power in this world remove it from us, if we stay connected to Jesus.
The Bible says not even demonic powers can remove the FUTURE HOPE that awaits the believer in Jesus.
35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. 38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Let us look at some of the words Jesus used that gives us confidence in knowing that we have been redeemed.
1. THE FIRST WORD: FORGIVENESS
1. THE FIRST WORD: FORGIVENESS
34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.
• The first word speaks FORGIVENESS to us. Amazing grace!
• The Good News of the Gospel – through Jesus death on the Cross, we are forgiven!
2. THE SECOND WORD: HOPE (SALVATION)
2. THE SECOND WORD: HOPE (SALVATION)
39 One of the criminals hanging beside him scoffed, “So you’re the Messiah, are you? Prove it by saving yourself—and us, too, while you’re at it!” 40 But the other criminal protested, “Don’t you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die? 41 We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.” 42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.” 43 And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.” 44 By this time it was about noon, and darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock.
• This second word speaks HOPE – it’s never too late, and no one is ever too far gone!
• If you’re believing God for the salvation of a family member, never give up.
3. THE THIRD WORD: RELATIONSHIPS
3. THE THIRD WORD: RELATIONSHIPS
25 Standing near the cross were Jesus’ mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary (the wife of Clopas), and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus saw his mother standing there beside the disciple he loved, he said to her, “Dear woman, here is your son.” 27 And he said to this disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from then on this disciple took her into his home.
• This third word speaks about the importance of FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS.
4. THE FOURTH WORD: SUBSTITUTION
4. THE FOURTH WORD: SUBSTITUTION
46 At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”
• This fourth word speaks of SUBSTITUTION. On the Cross, Jesus became our substitute, took our sin upon Him, gave us His righteousness. (2 Cor. 5:21).
• Because God forsook Jesus on the Cross, God will never leave or forsake us!
5. THE FIFTH WORD: GRACE
5. THE FIFTH WORD: GRACE
29 A jar of sour wine was sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his lips. 30 When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
• This sixth word is a picture of God’s GRACE.
• When Jesus said, "It is finished," He had paid the price for our salvation!
• We are going to heaven only because Jesus has taken our punishment for us.
6. THE SIXTH WORD: CONFIDENCE
6. THE SIXTH WORD: CONFIDENCE
46 Then Jesus shouted, “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!” And with those words he breathed his last. 47 When the Roman officer overseeing the execution saw what had happened, he worshiped God and said, “Surely this man was innocent.” 48 And when all the crowd that came to see the crucifixion saw what had happened, they went home in deep sorrow.
• This last word is the CONFIDENCE that all of God’s children have when they die.
• If you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, you WILL be saved!

13 There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
ALTAR CALL FOR SALVATION:
What does the death that Jesus died on the Cross mean for us today?
If we “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and we will be saved!”
