Practical Implications Of The Resurrection
Well, it is a tragedy.
But a worst tragedy be if he hadn't gone through it for us.
Well, today I want to talk about.
The resurrection, but I kind of want to make it as practical as I can and title of my sermon today. Is practical implications of the resurrection. And what I want to talk about is the post Resurrection Ministry. Of Jesus in heaven. What is he doing to the resurrection? Now, this week this past week? I was doing a devotion. Not one that I put online. I don't listen to my own devotion. I've read before. But I just never caught. Just the magnitude of this verse. So I'm going to read this verse and at the very end of the verse that's where we kind of going to get. Are we going to jump off on the resurrection. But before we do that, I want you to look at this verse. And I just kind of want to explain Peter 3:18. I want you to look at this. For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust that he might bring us to God being put to death in the flesh. But Made Alive by the spirit. I read that verse the other. By speaking of the Resurrection. But I want you to look how pregnant this verse is a theological truth. For Christ also suffered once for sins, that's the atonement.
the just for the unjust that substitution Christ is the judge. And we were all standing before the judge, as guilty as charged. But the judge came from behind the bench. Instead, in our place. He's our substitute. He is the just we are the unjust. He is the innocent. We are the guilty. He is the righteous. We are the unrighteous you commit a crime. You go before a judge. How many judges do? You know, they say, I'll take your place. Don't worry about, I'll go to prison for you. Not a single one. They'll say get him out of my sight. I don't want to see him 25 years in prison price come from behind and stood in our spot. Christ suffered, once for sins at Oma, the just for the unjust substitution. That he might bring us to God. That's reconciliation. We were all up strange from God. We were alienated from God by our sins. And if you look at the cross and you turn it over on its side. His right hand is reaching into heaven touching God. His left hand is reaching on Earth, touching us. He brought us back in relationship with God that he might bring us to God. That's the doctrine of reconciliation. We've got at home. We got substitution and we've got reconciliation in half of a look at this. Being put to Death In the Flesh. What is that? The crucifixion That's what we've been talking about. JB. Look Faith looks back to the crucifixion. We have a Toma, we have substitution. We have reconciliation. We have crucifixion but Made Alive by the spirit prays god, we have Resurrection. Think about that. Now, that's so important. What you do? I want you to go home. And I want you to memorize that verse.
And I want someone to say it back next Sunday. How to memorize Birchwood glad you ask. I'll tell you how to do it. You get you a three-by-five card. You write that verse on one side of the card, on the other side of the card, you put 1st Peter, 3:18 you put in your pocket, keep it with you. You look at that verse 70, just look at it and read it seven times every day and read the scripture reference. Now, when I used to do it, I would do it seven times each time. I took it out. So I would read it 49 times in a day. I guarantee you'll come back in here next Sunday. You'll be able to quote that scripture and whoever can and volunteers. I have a prize for you. Okay? Not going to tell you what the prize is, but I'll have a prize for you. This, that verse there is something we need to jump off right here. Being put to death in the flesh. But made alive in the spirit. The resurrection. That's what we want to talk about today. So following Christ, Resurrection. Jesus remained on Earth for 40 days and he appeared as far as I can tell 10 x 10 different times to different people in the biblical account. Then he led his disciples to the crest of the Mount of Olives. He spoke a final word of instruction and then there's the Angels was standing there. A cloud took him to heaven on a cloud. He ascended, physically, he ascended bodily. He ascended visible the same way that he's coming back by the way, every, I will see it. It was a Triumph of re-entry into Glory. Remember, he was always with the father. But then in the car in Carnation, he came to this Earth as a man. So now he has concluded his ministry on Earth and he resumes his place at the father's. Right-hand. You say what? How do we know that? Look at Hebrews 10 12. But this man, speaking of Jesus, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever. Sat down at the right hand of God. So, Jesus today is seated at the right hand of God. Now, that's very curious, too many of us, because we would say, okay, when he's been up there about 2,000 years. What is he doing? Is he just seated? Is he resting anybody needed to rest the video? We saw that would be somebody that would need to rest. Has he retired, you know how some of you know what it is? To be retired in heaven. What is he doing? Well, that's a wonderful question and they are fabulous answers throughout the Bible. But let me just say this. Jesus is not in active. He's not in a tent. If he has an active Ministry that touches your life. Every moment of every day. You saw what he died for my sins while he was on Earth. He did, but his ministry now touches your life of every moment of every day. So here's what I want to do today. I want to give you for things for Ministries that Christ is performing in heaven today at the right hand of the father. On our behalf. He stay, hope he's still ministering to us and I want to give you for. I'm the first one. Is this number one? Jesus Is providing for us. He is providing for us. He's making a provision for every need that you will ever have. While you were here on Earth. I want you to look at Seasons 120 through 22, that look at this. Which he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead resurrection and seated him at his right hand in the Heavenly places, but we see he's in heaven, stated beside the father. Verse 21.
Far above all principality and power and might and dominion and every name that is named not only in this age, but also in that, which is to come, he's far above all principality dominion and then I watch this.
First 22, and he put all things we're under his feet and gave him to be head over what four things to the church at this very moment. The Lord Jesus is seated in a place of supreme authority in heaven at the right hand of the father friend. He's not resting. He's not retired. He's not relaxing. He is over a farty over this entire universe and in a confused and mixed-up world that seems like it's just her lien, out-of-control, nuclear Holocaust. All right, everyone seems concerned about our planet and we should and we thinking of ourselves or what in the world is this world coming to everything that's going on my friends list. I'm glad to tell you that this world isn't going anywhere, that the Lord Jesus doesn't want it to go. He's in control, whatever this world is going. I can tell you one thing. What the world is coming to is coming to, Jesus is what it because he is, supreme. Everything is under his feet. He is in control of it all and so when we think about this that he's supreme authority and that he's providing for us. He provides guidance for us in a chaotic world. He provides Grace for you, throughout your journey on Earth. He he provides insurance and strength and peace of mind and contentment, even when this world seems to be out of control. Just think about your own personal. I mean, if you have a job wonder how you got that job. What would cause you the Lord? The lord gave you that job. He opens doors for you. You have good help. He's because of that. Finances are in order. It's because of the Lord, when Temptation comes, he always provides a way of Escape friend. He is in heaven today, not on Earth. Even sent the Holy Spirit to live on the inside of us, but he is still providing for us today. He cares about us your personal life. Your job, your help. Your Finance is your family. The Temptations that we have to endure. He's providing a way of Escape. So, number one, the day, he is post-resurrection Ministry. Number one. Jesus Is providing for us. Number two, Not only that, but Jesus is also praying for us. He's in heaven for us. You say well, how do you know that? Well, let's look at Romans. 8:34, Romans 8:34. Who is he, who condemns? It is Christ who died and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God who also makes what intercession for us. He's at the right hand of God making intercession. He's praying for us. Look what Hebrews 7:25 says. Therefore, he is also able to save to the other, most those who come to God through him, since he always lives to do what to make intercession for them. Christ. You noticed, he always leaves the resurrection. He's active, he's alive in heaven. But what is he doing? He's not only providing for us. He makes intercession. He prays for us. How does that feel to you to know that when you get up everyday? That God the son in Heaven is already prayed for you. I mean, it in that incredible to know. I mean, if anybody out here, would pray for us. We would say what? Thank you to God, pray for us every single day. There's a man in Louisiana. He he was a war veteran. He was in Vietnam and kind of a talkative fellow. And he has a podcast and Louisiana now. And he always said that, if he ever got on the radio or TV, that the first thing he would do when he would start his program, is he would pray for all three branches of the military. So, what he does, when he starts his podcast, he has it five days a week. He spends the first 90 seconds, praying for the military. I want to ask you something, wouldn't you be encouraged and know that somebody prayed for you for at least 90 seconds every day. You say we'll wait a minute. 90 seconds is, is not that long. Well. Just think about this. The Lord Jesus prays for you every day. Not not just 90 seconds, but he's continually doing it. He lives to make intercession for us and praise for each day and keeps on pray. What an overwhelming thought? This is hard. He's praying for us. He even prays for us when we don't even know, we need prayer. We don't know what we're going to face each and every day where there could be a car accident. Or was some, I could step out in front of us. We never know what we going to play Christ has pray because he knows our needs better than we do. And his prayers never condemned us. There always are aimed at strengthening our faith. And the Bible says, saving us to the other most. So you say, okay. Well, exactly. How does he pray for us? What does he pray? I'm going to give you some things that he prays, and I wish we can turn here, but we don't have time. But I want you to write this down. John chapter 17, chapter 17 is what I called The Lord's Prayer, because it's the Lord praying for his disciples and us that we call Matthew the Lord's prayer. Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. We call that the Lord's Prayer, but that's actually the Lord teaching us how to pray BS. And John 17 is the Lord praying. I want to give you six things. Very quickly that the Lord praise for you each and every day. Number one. He prays for your security. You say what do you mean? He says father when you send them out in the world. He says I pray that you would keep them from the evil one everyday. Jesus prays for your security. He prays that Satan would not get a stronghold in your life. He prays for your security. Number two. He prays for your stamina. Also in there's only 26 vs and John 17 in one of those verses. He says he says Lord, I pray that they would have my full measure of joy in them. You know how hard it is to live a joyful life. I mean life is hard, life is tough. Sometimes we get bad attitude. The Lord says, no, I pray that there that my joy may be full in them. He wants us to live a joyful life. He prays that life won't be so hard. That it'll knock us down and we can't get up. He praised it. His Joy may be in the price for our security price for our stamina. He prays for our maturity that we would grow spiritually, you say, how does he do that? He said in that prayer. He says, father sanctify them by your Truth for your word is truth. What does sanctify mean? It means to be more like Christ? You become more like him every day. He prays for your spiritual maturity. That's why the spiritual disciplines are so important. He's praying that Mike would pray, he's praying that Mike would seek after me. He's praying that Mike would do his due diligence and he prays that for all of us. He prays for our maturity. He prays for something else. He prays for your ministry because he says, his father, as you have sent me. I am sending them. Where is he sending us out in the highways and byways. He descends us because every single one of us. We are all and evangelist. He wants us to help spread his word. He said, even as I even as you sent me, I am sending them. He prays for your ministry, especially the ministry of evangelism, two more. He prays for your unity in your home, Unity between parents and children. Unity between husband and wife. Unity in his church. He says, father, I want them. I pray that they will be as one like you. And I are one. He says I'm the father. We are one is what Jesus says he prays for Unity. He prays that you'll have unity in your, in your workplace, in your church. He plays that he prays that, we would all be Unified. God. The father. He said, father I pray. That these may be with me where I am. Will one day we will want one because he's coming back together and he prays that we will be where he at. That's what he pray. Our security, our stamina Armor security, our ministry. Are you and our destiny? That's what he praised each and every day number 3. He not only provides Force. He not only prays for us. But Jesus is protecting us in heaven. Bad governance in our world, he prays for us, but he's actively protecting us. Look what 1st Peter 1:4. And 5 says, 1st Peter 1. + 5.
To an inheritance Incorruptible and undefiled, and that does not fade away. Roses in heaven for you. He has an inheritance. That's Incorruptible. That does not fade away. Look what he says. Who are kept? By the power of God, through faith for salvation, ready to be revealed. In the last time, if you ever thought about. He says, you have an inheritance. I look at this. And not only is your inheritance, but those who have been saved are kept by the power of God, through faith for salvation. God keeps you friends list. If you are a child of God, you can never be lost. Why? Because by the power of God of Salvation. He keeps you, he's keeping your inheritance in heaven, and he's keeping you here. You cannot lose your salvation. Once saved, always saved name written in the Lamb's Book of Life sealed with the Holy Spirit, until the day of redemption friend. You are kept and what God keeps he keeps. No, one can snatch it out of his hand. So, we see then. That he keeps us being Heretics. He's protecting our inheritance and he's protecting us so that we may enjoy that inheritance. One day. When we get to heaven. We all know that our world is toxic. We don't we don't even realize all the dangers that we Face. The Bible says, the devil wants to sit this like weed and says, he goes around. Roy has a line seeking whom he may devour. There's more spiritual warfare in this world than we realize, and we just really can't understand it all, but the Lord Jesus. And his angels, protect us every single day. No matter. There's no telling how many times did Jesus has told an angel to go and protect John protect Mike, protect David know, and we don't even know anything about it. Jesus is in heaven and he is protecting our inheritance and he is protecting us. This is what Jude 24 and 25 says and it reminds me of this look, Now to him, who is able to keep you keep you from stumbling and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding Joy. To God our savior who alone is wise, be glory and Majesty dominion and power both now and forever. Amen? Why? He's able to keep you from stumbling. He is protecting us. All right, one more will close. What is he doing? He's providing Force. He's praying for us. He's protecting us and John 14. 13 says that Jesus is preparing a place for us. He's preparing a place for look at it. John 14, 1 through 3. Let not your heart, be troubled, you believe in God believe. Also in me. This is Jesus speaking in my father's house are many mansions. If it were not so I would have told you. He says, I go to do what prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself. What did he pray for us to pray for our destiny? Remember that? And he says, I'm going to prepare place in. If I prepare a place for you. I'm going to come and receive you to myself because he prayed father. I want them to be with me if what he prayed where I am, there. You may be also. So, in what way is Jesus preparing a place in heaven? Well, you say what is he doing? Building something where he was a carpenter in Allenhurst? He's probably he's probably a good Builder. All I know is when he calls us home. Heaven's going to be absolutely perfect. It is going to be populated by all those in Christ who have preceded us, all loved ones, who have preceded us, and all the angels. And that the resurrection, we received more five bodies. That's just as real and physical. As Jesus is gura, five body and the Book of Revelation, describe heaven, heaven is like a shimmering city of the translucent light powered by the energy that radiates from the Lamb of God, Jesus himself. We won't even need the sun won't have the sun because he is the only one that we need and he paved the way for us who are washed and his blood friend. He's going to take us home. He is providing for us. He is praying for us. He is protecting us in right now. In heaven. He's preparing a place for us. Does that sound like he's sat down beside father arrested? Is he got his arms folded? Just retired and relax. No, he's not. He is active. In your life today. So here's the question. We need to ask and I'll close. Do you know this eternal Christ? I was reading something other day. As for amateur astronomers were telling us that the Sun, the earth, and the solar system. They said, well, these things are not Eternal and they say that the sun will continue burning for about another 5 billion years. It's going to continue to burn, but then it's going to become unstable in about 20 billion years. It's going to expand outward and it's going to grow brighter and redder, and then it's just going to explode into nothing friends. If the universe has an endpoint. It must have had a starting point. And that starting point was our creator. Jesus Christ who made the heavens and earth. And the Bible says, he is preparing a new Heaven and a new Earth as well. I don't know when he's coming back. I'm not going to sit here and try to speculate that. He's going to come in 10 years. Five years, 30 years, or hundred years. All I know is it's closer today than it's ever been, and he can come for his church at any moment. So we need to create an anticipation in our hearts, for the return of the Lord. And this is the last scripture. I'll show you, Titus 2:12 and 13. In look what it says teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly loves. We should live soberly right now righteously and godly in the present age. Why looking for the blessing pop? Hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior. Jesus Christ. What do we say about Hope earlier? Hope looks forward to a coming savior States, looks back words to a crucified saviors. Love looks upward to a crown savior. Hope looks forward to a coming saving looking for the Blessed hope and the Glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, brand list. We talked about eternal life. Many people think while I'll in our eternal life when I die if they're saved. My friend. Listen, the day you were saved. You entered eternal life. That's went. If you were saying 20 years ago. You've been living and internal life for the last 20 years. You say Christ has risen from the dead. And from that moment. Our life is eternal with God. The moment that I accepted Christ as my savior, I received and begin living my eternal life. When I die, I'll just simply transition to the fullest expression with a glorified body in eternal life, but I have it right now and it makes or it all to make a whole lot of difference in how I live my life in this world. How I should live in my life makes a difference because I know I have eternal life right now. So let me ask you. Is that true? Of you. Do you know you have a turtle light life on this Easter Sunday morning? If not, I want you to Bow your head right now. Let's just all bow our heads right now. And if you've never accepted Christ as your savior.
I want to implore you right now to confess your sins to the Lord. Lord. I know that I'm a sinner. Lord, I know that I can't measure up. I know that I have sinned against you. And give yourself to him and receive him as your lord and savior, just do that right now in the quietness of your own heart cleaned, eternal life that he has promised you friends. It will be the greatest decision of your life. It will be a moment that you will always remember because we have a God in heaven who not only died for us to not only live 4, who not only a rose for who, not only ascended for us, but we have a God in heaven. Now, who provides protects prays for us, and is preparing a place for us. Amen. Let's pray. Father. We thank you. And praise. You and love you today. Lord, for this Resurrection Sunday. Lord, we look at your crucifixion and the resurrection, and we think that well, it just ended there. The Lord, we know that it didn't in there that you're at the right hand of the father. But that doesn't mean that you're resting. Doesn't mean that you're relaxing and it doesn't mean that you're retired lore. We know that what you're doing in heaven, now affects every facet of our life every single day. Lord. I Thank you that you have provided for us that you provide food that you provide housing, and shelter, and work and job and help and relationships and family and children, Lord. Thank you for everything that you provided for us. Thank you to each and every day that every single person in here. That's a child of God, their name is on your prayer list in heaven that you pray for us constantly, you're making intercession for us each and every day. Lord. Thank you for sending your angels sending circumstances. Our way Lord to protect us in this world because we know that you want us to be with you and that whatever you decide to keep. Can never be taken from you. And Lord. We thank you that you were prepared a place called heaven for us. And one day, we going to spend eternity with you. They're forcing Christ name. I do pray. Amen. Well, thank you for being here today. I hope I didn't run over to long with a little after 12, but that's okay. Well, thank you for being here today on this Easter Sunday.
