Resurrection

The Resurrection gives us assurance of God’s Word. Luke 24:36-39, luke24:44, luke 24:46-49
Luke 24:36–39 ESV
As they were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace to you!” But they were startled and frightened and thought they saw a spirit. And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.”
Luke 24:44 ESV
Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”
Luke 24:46–49 ESV
and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”
The Movie the Jokker quote: I hope my death makes more sense(cents) than my life.
This is the 2019 Version, the psychological thriller Chronicling the failed clown Arthur Quinn. He has many issues and these issues causes him to be misunderstood, bullied, and physically abused. The movie is very gloomy and sad and one of the things that Jump out as you watch it, is the quote he wrote in his journal for his case worker:
This quote is mind boggling: He writes- I hope my death makes more sense than my life.
If we are honest, all of us at some point ponder this notion. As we become more aware of our mortality, as we see people around us die (for various reasons), we look back over our lives and try to make sense of our existence and what we have become.
Questions like: How will i be remembered, will people notice I’m gone, what will they say about me?
what impact did i leave on society? Did i fulfill my purpose.
If you have every thought these, you are not the first. Paul, in philippians 3 shows us how he wrestled with this idea and and he said: no matter my degrees, pedigree, financial status, family lineage. . . all of that is nothing. But only this.. that I might Know Christ and the Power of His resurrection.
The power of the resurrection is what we celebrate this weekend. Jesus got out of the grave.. the promise that he said in the Gospels. Destroy this Temple and in 3 days i will raise it up.
Side note: if you are a member of BMBC, every Sunday is celebrated as Resurrection Sunday because we are constantly reminded of this Truth: He died, was buried and He rose with all power.
We have a savior who was obedient to death on the cross, now he has been given a Name that is above every Name. At the Name of Jesus, every knee will bow, every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord.
Our salvation was accomplished and applied through the finished work of Christ. It is in Him we live, move and have our being.
This is the most important celebration we have as believers. There are countless songs that explain the significance of this for us.
“Jesus went to Calvary, to save a wretch like you and me. That’s love.”
“He would not come down from the Cross just to save Himself. He decided to die just to save me”
Hallelujuah, you have won the victory, hallelujauh, you did all for me, death could not hold you down, you are the risen King, seated in Majesty.
we could have used this week to sing the songs of the resurrection but I am not a singer and let jump into the text.
The Resurrection gives us assurance of God’s Word.

God’s Power

God has shown his power time and time again
Did HE actually rise from the dead?
many detractors use this as a way to talk about the nonsense of the Christian faith.
this is why we all need to be in a class learning on a regular basis to refute these misnomers
stephens testimony
Acts 7:55–56 ESV
55 But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56 And he said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”

God’s Promise

Destroy this temple
Today we celebrate the empty tomb.
The empty tomb is so important for us because it affirms God’s word through the Prophet Hosea in Chapter 6 verse two
Hosea 6:2 ESV
2 After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will raise us up, that we may live before him.
This proves again the faithfulness of God and the fact that His Word is Trustworthy for us.
Resurrection Sunday separates us from other faiths. . their leaders died and at their death. . their story ends.
Christ being raised gives us hope of new life, in this new Christ is seated at the Right Hand of God. Or as Stephen said standing at the right hand of God the Father

God’s People

we will live again
This is great news. . Christ being raised to new life is able to intercede on our behalf.
The resurrection of Jesus give us hope in the power of God.. . the same power that Raised Jesus from the Dead is the same that can resurrect your situation, your circumstances, and ever the Pandemic we our facing with the COVID-19. . God has the Power and we must have Faith and Believe in Him
