The Crown of Thorns

Why did Jesus die such a cruel death? Mark 16:16-20
He came to bear our sin. The crown (stephanos) of thorns was symbolic of our sin.
“Jesus wore the crown of thorns because our sin was the seed that made the thorns.” Steve Gains
Gen 3:17-19 “And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; 18 thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. 19 By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.””
Jesus has borne the curse of sin
Col 2:13-15 “And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.”
My sin, O the bliss of this glorious thought, my sin, not in part but the whole, is nailed to his cross and I bear it no more, praise the Lord, Praise the Lord! O, my soul!

The Crown of Life

The women approached the tomb expecting to find a body, they came prepared with spices.
Instead, they found an angel bringing a message of astonishingly Great News!
He was crucified, that’s the past. He IS RISEN! That is the present living reality. Jesus has conquered Death!
Crown Him the Lord of Life! Who Triumphed o’re the grave, and rose victorious in the strife for those He came to save. His glories now we sing; who died and rose on high. Who died eternal life to bring and lives that death may die!
The Lord will give a crown of life to those who love Him! James 1:12 “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.”

The Crown of Glory

He Is NOW at the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19-20).
He is worthy of all glory (The throne room of heaven).
He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! He is coming with a crown (diadem) of glory. Rev. 19:11-12 “11 Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. 12 His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself.”
Do you know HIM who is Lord of All?
