A punishment is trade | Something wrong | you hope justice is served.
God also deals in Justice | Penalty for Sin is Death | When something suffers as a penalty for Sin, it’s called an “Atonement” - It’s in place of the Sin.
With that in mind, I want to talk about 3 things;
A holy God | A serving Sacrifice | an Everlasting covenant.

Today, we dive into Pauls Message at Antioch;
And we bring you the good news that what God promised to the fathers, this he has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus, as also it is written in the second Psalm,
“ ‘You are my Son,
today I have begotten you.’
And as for the fact that he raised him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, he has spoken in this way,
“ ‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings of David.’
Therefore he says also in another psalm,
“ ‘You will not let your Holy One see corruption.’
Today we talk about: A holy God | A serving Sacrifice | An everlasting covenant.

sometimes Holiness is attributed negatively to Christians | “so holy” |
In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory!”
And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke.
Holy = Set apart = To cut or a cut above - Seperate | Example = Fine China plates | kept away | even when out | Can’t touch.
You know, if you have Mac Cheese | You aint using those plates | they are set apart
“Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods?
Who is like you, majestic in holiness,
awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?
Who is God? he is WISE| fully, entirely, Holy, Fully Entirely, SET APART. He is pure, righteous, wihtout blemish | without sin…The perfect one | never changing, uncomprehensible, all emcompassing, all knowing, rightoues GOD.
You must understand - He is set APART - SELF-EXISTENT. SELF SUFFICIENT.
So, this Holy God, these serephim flying around screaming HOLY HOLY HOLY | Isaiah, sitting there | in the presence of this | Isaiah cried out;
And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”
Woe to me | Ruined | Wrecked = What did God do to draw that out of Him, nothing - He just was | Presence of God enough
then the people I am are also unclean | He didn’t say “Oh sally over there, she aint spiritual enough, I saw her tell a little white lie” Isaiah did not bargain wiht God “If you forgive me, i’ll be good” no..,just woe…is …me.
Self-righteous people can only be self-righteous in front of other people because when you’re in the presence of God you’re not worried about other peoples sin, you’re just aware of yours.
What did God do?
Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”
Burning = Atonement.
God went to Him | Forgave | gave atonment | GOD INITATIATED.
Isaiah then gives his life over and in the very next chapter. 700 years before Christ;
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
God initiated the atonemnent with Isaiah, in the same way he does for us - New testament;
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
The Serving Sacrifice | Christ, He sent Christ, a Serving sacrifice | Atone for our sins | In place of our inequities | Holy God | Sent Christ |
Let’s fast forward, 700 years, Jesus has come, He has been whipped | Beaten | Sweating blood of stress | hanging on the cross, there are how many people hanging there? 3 - Jesus, and two murders | Worst punishment imaginable.
Look at what the thieves said on the cross;
One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
Jesus did not say: Nope | Going to hell - worm never dies, nashing | had chance | I can forgive, but i wont.
Jesus, Holy Jesus, said - to a criminal that could not do a SINGLE THING that could earn his right standing with GOD. | No turning over leaf | join church | be baptised | give | serve | nothing.
Jesus looked at this guilty, sinful but repentent man and said;
And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
Your sins will be forgiven - Even if you don’t deserve it, even if you can’t earn it - You will get it through your FAITH in ME.
I use to curse the name of God | I use to make fun of Christians | Until I opened the door to Jesus
among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Jesus didn’t come to make bad people Good, he came to make dead people ALIVE.
Imagine what it feels like for a moment | If criminal heard these words | The guilty guy got let go, and he didn;’t get what he deserved |
His wounds would heal, but what do you think his life would be devoted to? | After someone else DIED, so he could LIVE |
You know it | You can feel it | Every moment would be dedicated to that who took the punishement.
By His Grace, I am Saved.
This was my story | Undeserving, Guilty | Innocent one, Lamb of God, Took my punishement, to make me whole | But he did more than that
An Everlasting Covenant | 500 years before Christ - A prophet;
“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”
Make = Cut, Sacrifice | Law within their hearts | Torah = Beautiful instructions of Life | They shall know me = Relationship. God started in the garden of eden IN relationship | End IN Relationship.
He does not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
Relationship not religion | Jesus broke the Jewish Law when he rose the boy from the dead | He healed the blind so they could see | he washed the disciples feet | He went to the cross out of his love for us |
Religion draws lines to keep people out but Jesus crossed those lines to bring people into…relationship with him.
Deal happening | Had to be the SINLESS, SPOTLESS, PERFECT LAMB OF GOD. John the baptist “It’s the Lamb of God”.
How many people on the cross? 3 - There is special meaning behind numbers in bible;
1 - Oneness of God
4 - Earth
5 - Grace | 7 = Perfection | 8 = New beginnings, 10 = testing, 40 = trials.

Revelation, Jesus was described as the one you was, and is, and is to come. In Hebrews Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. Old Testament, there are 3 patriachal fathers, abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Tabanacle has 3 sections, outer court, inner court, holy of holies. Angels cried out to God 3 times. Daniel prayed 3 times a day. Jonah was in the belly of the beast for 3 days. NT has 27 books, that’s 3 times, 3 times 3. Paul was blinded for 3 days from light from Heaven. He prayed 3 times for his Thorn to come out - He was stuck on Malta for 3 days after being shipwrecked - Jesus when he was born, had 3 gifts bought to him, gold, frankenscience and murr, at 12 he was seperated from his parents for 3 days, Public ministry lasted 3 years. Started 30, finished 33. Tempted 3 times in the desert, He had 12 disciples, 3 where in his inner circle - peter, james and john - They where with him at the transfiguration. Peter denied Jesus 3 times. Restored PEter, love, grace and repeated it 3 times. Jesus raised 3 people from the dead during his ministry. He prayed 3 times in the garden of gethsemene, there where 3 men on the cross.
Jesus, God’s son was placed on the cross on the 3rd hour of the day, in the 9th hour, which is 3pm, He declared 3 words of victory.
IT IS FINISHED. EArth SHook | Darkness fell on land, for 3 hours | World went silent | no hope | no life
Day 1 - laid in the tomb, nothing happened
Day 2 - Nothing happened
But on the THIRD DAY - Women went to the tomb - Stone had been rolled away | The work that was Jesus came to do was DONE - He declared | The perfect work had been completed | JESUS HAD RISEN | He was the perfect lamb to create a covenent between us and God |
If you are like the theif | Sin is Heavy | Guilt is much | Confess it to him | When you call on Jesus | God will see you not as you were | but as a Child of God | He will look at the blood | The work has been done. Isaiah prophesied 700 years erliear in bible | a King will be born = done, Cross = done, resurrection = done, it is siad in the bible, Lamb of God will come back |

You are not here because of choice, you are here because God knocked on your heart and you responded and you need to respond again.
God has initiated atonement
Got has initated the covenent by sending His only Son so thst he would Die for your trangressions, for your sins, because we are not worthy
There is one that is worthy and it’s the same one that rose again because he was the spotless lamb of God.
When you call on the name of Jesus God doesn’t see shane, mat, mark, luke any more, whrn you call on the name of Jesus Christ God sees His child, covered in the blood of jesus, without blemish and not through anything you have done but through what Jesus did on the cross and we worship that same jesus that rose from the grave.
