The Weekend of Change!
Luke 23:34
This Easter morning we are going to look at the weekend the changed everything!
The word that was being lived in and still is today was and still is captivated by sinful behavior!
The enemy of all of Gods creation has one mission to destroy the relationship between God and His creation.
He almost accomplished this when he got Adam and Eve to sin in the garden of Eden, by eating the forbidden fruit of the tree of LIFE.
Adam blamed Eve, Eve blamed the serpent so God judged them all which broke the connection that God had with His creation.
It starts with Jesus trial where they set free a known criminal and murder name Barabbas after the people are in-sighted by the chief priest and the rulers of the people.
They yell crucify him, crucify him, give us Barabbas.
Crucify Him, Crucify Him
When the people don’t know who they are, nor who’s they are and don’t know what they believe this is what happens!
This had to happen for the restoration of the relationship between God and His creation!
Forgiveness Begin Here
Jesus ask His Father to forgives them for their sins because they do not know what they are doing.
It is the blind leading the blind!
Forgiveness Starts With This Man
This criminal stands up for Jesus and asked to be remembered.
Jesus forgives and tells him he will be with Him in Paradise.
Jesus Last Words
The sixth hour comes commits His spirit into the Fathers hands!
The people realize that Jesus was an innocent man and didn’t deserve what was given to Him.
But this had to happen for the restoration to the Father to happen with His creation!
Jesus Buried in Another Mans Tomb
Joseph would willing give up his tomb to bury Jesus so He would have a place to rest over the weekend!
Guarding of the Tomb
They knew and understood that Jesus would not be held back in a tomb with gigantic stone sealing it.
So they had 24 hour guards watching over and seal it with ropes!
He has Risen
Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James were going to prepare the body.
But Jesus has risen the stone has been rolled away and it is empty Jesus is gone!
There was an angel sitting there waiting for them to arrive so he could tell them He has risen from the dead, now go tell the disciples this glorious news!
Jesus Appears to His Disciples
They still doubt after all that they have seen and experienced with Jesus!
So He tells then to look at His hands and feet!
Commissioning the Disciples
Jesus breathed on them and told them to receive the Holy Spirit!
Peter Restored
Jesus would go on and ask Peter this question 3 times do you love me and the say then do this!
Peter was restored and given great power to minster the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The weekend that world change the world forever, Jesus came, He lived, He died, and He rose from the dead to complete His mission.
That was to restore a broken relationship between God and His creation.
The requirements for blood sacrifice was done once and for all with the death of Jesus on the cross.
Jesus took our sins upon His shoulders with Him to the grave and when He rose from the dead those sins were forgiven.
All we have to do is receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and ask Him to forgive our sins.
What an amazing weekend to remember all that Jesus accomplished for each of us.
Nothing will be the same ever again!
Jesus, the cross, and the resurrection = forgiveness for all who would receive!
