I love sleep!
Does anyone here love sleep?
Isn’t it wonderful?!
I’m so good at sleeping, I can even do it with my eyes closed.
For some of us, sleep is a time to rest, a time to dream, and for some, it’s a time to briefly escape from everything that is going on in your life.
While sleeping is good for our bodies, is not good for our faith.
Ernest Hemingway once said: “I love sleep.
My life has the tendency to fall apart when I'm awake.”
An anonymous writer once said: “When nothing goes right, just go to bed.”
Sleep, as defined by Webster’s Dictionary, is the natural state of rest during which your eyes are closed, and you become unconscious.
Sleep is amazing.
And the most amazing thing about sleep is that it’s super important for you to do it.
Your body was created to require proper amounts of sleep for you to be able to function properly.
But, as much as we all appreciate a good night’s sleep, or an afternoon nap, there is a time and a place for sleep.
We can’t sleep all day long, every single day.
As awesome as that may sound to some of us, we would be missing out on so much outside of our bedrooms.
When you are asleep, you miss things.
Tell a story: Sleeping on random people’s laps.
Has there ever been a season in your life where you literally felt like you were sleepwalking?
Where you felt that life was just passing you by as you just went through the motions and routines day after day?
And what about your faith?
Do you have SLEEPY FAITH?
Today I just want to share a passage with you that give us some keys about how to stay engaged in our faith.
Principle #1- Pay attention to your time.
(Ephesians 5:15-16)
God, what are you saying?
What I am going to do about it?
Principle #2- Surrender your plans.
(Ephesians 5:17)
You are not ready to live until you are ready to die.
Principle #3- Fill your tank.
(Ephesians 5:18)
What you consume affects you?
Your worldview is shape by the content you consume.
What is the proportion of Godly stuff you consume versus everything else?
Principle #4- Don’t waste your worship.
(Ephesians 5:19)
Principle #5- Acknowledge God’s goodness.
(Ephesians 5:20)
What do you need to do to wake up your faith today?
Pay attention to your time
Surrender your plans
Fill your tank
Worship
Acknowledge God’s goodness?
