The Good Shepherd: He Knows the Ground Where He is Leading Us
He knows the ground where he is leading us—he leads us to the fruitful grounds of Calvary—Golgotha—Sacrifice—hating our present life for the riches of eternal life
The Desire to See Jesus
Nothing else is said but Greeks wanted to see Jesus
Not uncommon to want to see Jesus: Since his ministry then to now he has been known as the great provider
These Greeks no doubt heard about his works and the fruit people got
But the teaching of Jesus shows us objectively why we should seek Jesus
And that is.....
To see Jesus is for him to be glorified
Jesus is glorified in dying and providing life by his death
Jesus is glorified in this death/life paradigm having application to us
We show its application in following Jesus (in his death and life)
We follow Jesus in how he handles trouble
We follow Jesus in his desire for the Father to be glorified
This connects us with the song of ages: “I have glorified it and I will glorify it again”
