I’m worse than “Them”
I’m worse than “Them”
Jesus first words on the cross is a reminder....
And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.
Luke did not state, as did Matthew and John, how the events of Jesus’ death fulfilled Old Testament Scriptures.
Luke’s purpose, instead, was to show that Jesus was the forgiving Messiah even as He died.
On the cross Jesus was interceding on behalf of the people who were crucifying Him!
Intercede: To intervene on behalf of another
Jesus asked, Father forgive them…
Forgive: to stop blaming or taking an offense into account.
Father......
Don’t count this against them!!!
“They know not what they do”
But that was them.... It wasn’t me!
New Flash! I’m Worst Than “Them”
Hebrews 7:25 teaches me that Jesus lives to make intercession for those who draw near to God.
He is not only my Intercessor!
He is my mediator
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
mediator n. — a negotiator who acts as a link between parties; sometimes specifically selected.
He is my advocate
My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
advocate (legal) n. — a person who acts as a spokesperson or representative of someone else’s policy, purpose, or cause; especially before a judge in a court of law.
Similar to the role of a lawyer, Jesus defends believers…
Who is Jesus defending us against?
Revelation 12:10 gives us a peak into the work of Satan now…
Revelation tells us that he will be thrown down but right now…
He is an accuser…
He accuses us day and night before God!
This is why I’m worse than “Them”
It’s one thing to be an unknowing offender…
But I’m a Knowing offender…..... I’ve done somethings in my life while i’ve been saved!
But I’m sooooooo Glad
That I have the same intercessor that the “Thems” had!
The only difference is Jesus is not asking the Father to forgive me…
He is asking the Father to conform me!
Conform: like-natured adjs. — similar in representative essence or nature to something else.
Conform me until He...
Talks like me...
Responds like me...
Forgives like me
Loves like me…
Serves like me…
Looks like me…
Jesus first words on the cross is a reminder of What He is doing in my life!
Don’t give up on me! God is Conforming ME!!!!!!!
