Luke 23:39–43 ESV
One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
Here you see the testament of Jesus’s forgiveness and Sacrifice. That at his lowest he look beyond his own suffering and comfort for others. He wasn’t struggling for a way out but walking the way through. He wasn’t moved by the empty words of the people or the thief But his face was still fixed like flint toward Jerusalem. He put his own comfort on hold to respond to the one calling. That when he left the 99 for the 1 we realize that he was one of the 99 he left. Even in death he was reaching. The Biblical text says we but only need to believe that he is lord and Savior to be Saved. This thief but believed and was saved. So to the one with the call I would say this is a call unto the Death. Learn to suffer with Grace Learn to Sacrifice and still be victors Learn to serve others more than yourself. And to the one reaching in search of relief. you but need to believe and you shall be saved.
