ILLUST: Questions we ask
Unanswerable - Why are hot dogs in packs of 10, and buns in packs of 8?
Rhetorical - Does bacon taste good? Do most ladies like Hobby Lobby?
Curious - Did the Cubs actually finally go pro and stay there?
Obvious - Is dark chocolate better than milk chocolate?
What about answers to other questions?

KEY QUESTIONS - RESURRECTION DAY

1) Why did Jesus come?

Ideas? Answers
John 18:37 NASB95
Therefore Pilate said to Him, “So You are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
REM: “I am the Way, the TRUTH, the Life

2) Why do you seek the living among the dead?

Maybe the best question of the Resurrection account
Every Gospel account speaks of seeking Jesus...
Matthew 28:5 NASB95
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified.
Mark 16:6 NASB95
And he said to them, “Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen; He is not here; behold, here is the place where they laid Him.
John 20:15 NASB95
Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Supposing Him to be the gardener, she said to Him, “Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have laid Him, and I will take Him away.”
Luke 24:5 NASB95
and as the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living One among the dead?
POINT: Jesus has already taught and explained that He is living, and God of the living
Matthew 22:31–32 NASB95
“But regarding the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God: ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.”
He says He IS, the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob
Implying they, with faith, are alive, with a living God
He is the living God, for those who live by faith
Maybe the best question for us, in our day and culture?
Seeking Jesus - Seek and ye shall find
Matthew 7:7 NASB95
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
Jesus came to seek and save that which was lost (Luke 19:10)
He did that, His work is done.
But where do you seek?
What do you seek? - Peace? Love? Truth? Happiness?
Why seek the living among the dead?
Why seek Jesus where we know He is not?
Do not seek Jesus in the world - His kingdom is not of this world
1 John 2:15 NASB95
Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
The world is spiritually dead- “lost”
Do not seek Jesus in “religion”
His name is in there, sometimes, but He is not
SEEK JESUS AMONG THE LIVING
Hebrews 4:12 NASB95
For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
SEEK JESUS AMONG THE LIVING
Believers - where the Spirit of Christ lives
The church, believers living for the Lord - God’s plan to show Jesus to the world (REM, because He is not in the world, He is in believers)
If someone is seeking Jesus here, this church, will they find Him?
If someone is seeking Jesus in YOU, will they find Him?

3) What happens when you die?

This question, you need to get right
When people ask you this, how do you answer?
When Jesus died, He resurrected to glory
What about you?
Because Jesus died, and resurrected, so can you!
1 Cor.15 - Resurrection is the key to our faith, there is no faith without it
1 Corinthians 15:17 NASB95
and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins.
But…Oh yeah, a great BUT here...
1 Corinthians 15:20 NASB95
But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep.
1 Thess. 4 comforts us
Those who place their trust in Christ, asking forgiveness for being a sinner, surrendering their life to living for Him
Easter/Resurrection Day - is about answering this question
How you answer - matters for eternity

4) So…How does one get saved?

The jailer asks Paul this question, and Paul answers in Acts 16:31
Acts 16:31 NASB95
They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
Believe - mare than just knowledge
James 2:19 NASB95
You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.
Active trust - confess of being a sinner, actively trust that Jesus raised from the dead
READ - Romans 10: 9-13 - which brings up the last question...
WHEN DID YOU PLACE YOUR PERSONAL TRUST IN JESUS?
You can do this today, because of the resurrection of Jesus
