Recap

This year in Bible we are looking at the Gospel of Luke. This is one of the four books in the Bible that recounts the life of Jesus of Nazareth, the man who is the centre of the Christian faith.
The first part of the story we looked at described Jesus’ birth, in parallel with the birth of his cousin, John the Baptist. In his birth, we saw that Luke was hinting toward his identity. There were two important parts to that identity. Firstly, he was the descendant of David. God had promised David that he would send him a son, somebody who would reign on his throne forever. Now, Luke is wanting to make the case that this Jesus is the one who is going to do this.
We then looked at the start of Jesus’ ministry. Remember, this began with the ministry of John the Baptist. He was a herald, somebody who was sent before Jesus to get people ready for him.
