I am probably one of the few people who find the long list of names in the bible fascinating.
The longest list in the Bible is found in First Chronicles and is 9 chapters long.
Full of lots of historical information!
You know there is a great deal to learn from those lists!
One of the first is in Genesis 5:18-24 this lists the descendants of Adam
Its a long list of names but there are something’s from this list I want to share, and our person of the day is on that list
I want to skip down to here…..
Genesis 5:18–24 NASB 2020
18 Now Jared lived 162 years, and fathered Enoch. 19 Then Jared lived eight hundred years after he fathered Enoch, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 20 So all the days of Jared were 962 years, and he died. 21 Now Enoch lived sixty-five years, and fathered Methuselah. 22 Then Enoch walked with God three hundred years after he fathered Methuselah, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 23 So all the days of Enoch were 365 years. 24 Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.
Many these people lived a loooong time.......!
Methuselah live 969 years! Jared lived 962 years, Enoch lived 365 years!
How many of you have heard of Noah? What is he know for again?
This part of the list is about Noah’s family!
Noah has a fascinating family.
I want to talk about Noah’s great grandfather.
Enoch. He was the seventh son from Adam. Who is Adam?
Do you know what it was like in Enoch’s time?
Genesis 5:24 NASB 2020
24 Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.

Enoch lived a life that pleased God

For 300 years Enoch walked with God. Not swayed by the the people around him.
This is how God wants us to be as His people. It is easy to follow others isn’t it?
Not so much following God, right?
Listen to how God blessed Enoch in the way he lived his life - Genesis 5:24
Genesis 5:24 NASB 2020
24 Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.
I have often wondered what impact Enoch’s example had on Noah?
Noah was the only one in the time he lived who found grace in the eyes of the Lord!
Think about all the people around the world today and only one person finds the favor of God!
Imagine living a life so pleasing that God would take you right to haven!

We too should live a life pleasing to God

God also desires that we live a life He can bless!
We are able to because of Jesus!
We just celebrated Easter last Sunday, what do we celebrate on Easter?
Because Jesus died on the cross as a sacrifice for sin, was buried, and rose to life again God forgives us!
Through Jesus and the grace of God alone can we live a life that God can bless!
That new life is different, it stands out like Enoch because we are walking with God!
Why not give you life to Jesus, and live a life that God can bless!
Let us pray!
