Regeneration
We are going to look at sanctification
and we will see this in the people of Israel
Read Zechariah 13 1-6..
PRAY
Sanctification
Justification declares us righteous
Justification; the Judge, The Father declares us not guilty
The wages of sin is death
but Jesus took that death on the cross
Justification is an instant thing.
a one time thing
But sanctification is
Lexham Survey of Theology (Sanctification)
Sanctification is the ongoing supernatural work of God to rescue justified sinners from the disease of sin and to conform them to the image of his Son: holy, Christlike, and empowered to do good works.
Sanctification is progressive
an ongoing work
those who are Holy are now made Holy
it changes us on the outside to be like we are on the inside Justified/ Righteous
God’s Role
1 Corinthians 6 9-11.
All of these things were changed when one was saved
Romans 6.
once enslaved to sin but now enslaved to righteousness
we have been changed from being obedient to Satan
to being obedient to God
we can now understand the things of God, through the Spirit
Galatians 5:22–23 (LEB)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control.
all of these and more are what God changes in us to be like Jesus
Our Responsibility
Faith obedience and submission
Philippians 2:12–13 (LEB)
Therefore my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
For the one at work in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure, is God.
Romans 12 3-8.
our part includes Prayer, scripture, forgiveness of others,
obedience to the commands of the New Testament
in sanctification God Has His part
and we have our part
but even in our part God has already given us the drive and ability to do them
and over time we become more like Jesus
so lets go to our scripture
Zechariah 13 1-6.
V 1 a cleansing fountain
This verse has both our and His Responsibilities
V 2 removing temptations- False Prophets and Idols
we pray for
God delivers
V 3 Become very zealous for righteousness
V 4 false prophets will have a change of heart
V 5-6 false prophets will do anything not to be found out
God going to change the Israelite people they will be totally committed to Jesus their Messiah and king
God will change them from the inside out to be the people God always intended them to be
at the rapture our sanctification will be complete
