Continuing With God Galatians 3:3 3 Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? Galatians 5:16, 18, 22-23, 25 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 2 Thessalonians 2:13 13 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, Romans 8:4 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Jesus & the Holy Spirit - Matthew 1:20; 3:16; 4:1 - Isaiah 11:1-2; 61:1-2 Matthew 1:20; 3:16; 4:1 1:20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 3:16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 4:1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. Isaiah 11:1-2 11:1-2 There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. Isaiah 61:1-2 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, 61:1-2 The Fullness of the Holy Spirit - Luke 11:9-13 - John 7:37-39 - Acts 1:8; 2:4; 4:31 - Ephesians 5:18 - Ephesians 3:16-19 Luke 11:9-13 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 9 “For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 10 “If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? 11 “Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 12 “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” 13 John 7:37-39 37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 38 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. Acts 1:8; 2:4; 4:31 1:8 “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. Ephesians 5:18 18 “And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,” The verb is in the present imperative; “Be constantly being filled with the Spirit.” The interpretation is, “Be constantly, moment by moment, being controlled by the Spirit.” Please consult the author’s book, Untranslatable Riches in the Greek New Testament for a detailed, practical treatment of the fullness of the Holy Spirit. Taken From: Wuest’s Word Studies in The Greek New Testament Ephesians 3:16-19 16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Conclusion - Acts 7:51 - Ephesians 4:30 - 1 Thessalonians 5:19 - Zechariah 4:6.7 Acts 7:51 “You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you. 51 Ephesians 4:30 30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 1 Thessalonians 5:19 19 Quench not the Spirit. Zechariah 4:6-7 6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. 7 Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it. Grace: a definition God freely producing for us, through the person and work of His Son, all that we could need, all that we yearn for, all that we are commanded to walk in and become, but could never deserve, could never earn and could never produce on our own.
