From Toxic Masculinity to Confused Masculinity
For a long time the identity of a man has been under assault. In 2019, Gillette stepped out of their business to address what they believed should be the end of toxic masculinity.
They address in a short gut punch men as barbaric, insolent, fighters with an insatiable appetite for sex and bullying. The good ol’ boys club rules were in full effect.
They failed to mention that men while they account for the larger portion of the workforce also bear some of the most dangerous jobs leading to men suffering 93% of workplace fatalities.
They fail to mention that 97% of combat fatalities are men.
They fail to mention 79% of all homicides victims are male
They fail to mention that 60% of fathers with no parental rights are paying child support for a child they may never see.
They fail to mention 80% of all completed suicides are men.
Since the production of the Gillette commercial our society has descended into a veritable tailspin of confusion.
As wokeism creeps into every corner of our society, it is necessary now to address the true identity of a man, causing the slumbering to awaken, and those manning the towers to fully commit to rising to the occasion bringing to life once more biblical men who will combat the confusion that now exists.
Toxic masculinity and confused masculinity proceed from an erred understanding of what a man is supposed to be.

Men need to wake from their slumber and commit to their God-given identity.

Genesis 2:5–8 ESV
When no bush of the field was yet in the land and no small plant of the field had yet sprung up—for the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground, and a mist was going up from the land and was watering the whole face of the ground— then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed.
Genesis 2:15–18 ESV
The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
God created man and formed him according to His purposes.
Assigns him to work the garden
Assigns him to name all the animals
Assigns him to steward over all of creation.
It is not good for man to be a alone
Perfect helps; His perfect balance: no animal could suffice (Fido cannot be your perfect fit)
Woman was made and called his perfect partner
oneness together
alone they are incomplete
Society tells us different
Men grunt, scratch places, and do gross things
Cartoons tell us adult men are stupid and cannot accomplish anything
Social media tells us that being a man is intrinsically bad.
Societies Man defined
Notches on the Bedpost
Performance in sports
Money in the bank account
Prov 31… this woman goes and works and provides for the family buys a field milks the cow and still has breakfast made before the men are out of bed… (think about that moment
ITS NOT ALL ABOUT MONEY, SEX, AND SPORTS

Committed to God Honoring Labor

No-Lazy Men
Work existed in the Garden before the fall for both men and women
Genesis 2:15 ESV
The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.
Work was present
Hard labor and toil only occurs after the fall in Gen 3:17-19
Right type of work
Laziness has consequences
Cowards
Proverbs 26:13 ESV
The sluggard says, “There is a lion in the road! There is a lion in the streets!”
b. Committed to your own destruction
Proverbs 6:9–11 ESV
How long will you lie there, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man.
c. Full of excuses
Proverbs 26:14–16 ESV
As a door turns on its hinges, so does a sluggard on his bed. The sluggard buries his hand in the dish; it wears him out to bring it back to his mouth. The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who can answer sensibly.
Called to God Honoring labor not just random work or laziness

Committed to God’s Law

The basics are found in the 10 commandments
Lived out as follows
Communicates to the family : How many trees were in the garden?
Genesis 3:1–3 ESV
Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ”
This is not what Adam was told…
b. Washes his wife with the word of God (not your emotion or thoughts, you see her how God sees her.)
Ephesians 5:25–26 ESV
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,
Woman do what I say you are what I say (Fathers, husbands, brothers, lovers)
c. Committed to discipleship
Ephesians 6:1–4 ESV
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Be not just discipliners… Be Disciplers of all
